Posted - Jan 23 2009 : 2:39:15 PM Melanie you are a GODDESS! That was above and beyond. Thank you SO much! I'm printing this out and trying it out tonight. If you were closer I'd give you a big hug. This was so generous of you to take the time to do.
Thank you again!
Hugs, Linda

Posted - Jan 23 2009 : 2:31:07 PM I'll try to explain, but I'm still kinda confused. I'm just like "Wow it worked!" Anyhoo I haven't been crazy about blogger's standard two column layout so I started with a hunt for a 3 column blogger layout. I came across this site--- http://btemplates.com It is loaded with some really cool backgrounds/templates. Some of the templates have instruction links, some don't. The template does all the separating and framing around pics and all that.
Now for all the technical jargon and I promise to try to make this as easy as I can. Linda, I have a blog for my weight loss too! it did have a really plain jane pick background, now it has a sunset. http://onmyweightolosingbig.blogspot.com/ Hopefully the instructions below are not too wacky. I really had some problems getting it all straight the first couple of times I tried it but now it's pretty easy. If you have any questions, just ask.
When you find the template you want to add to your page, below the preview you'll see a download button, click it. You'll have a screen pop up that asks you if you wanna open or save this file. Click save. You should have a "save as" screen pop up- click save (make a note of what the file name is)
Now for the confusing part (I'm going through the steps as I type this) Find where you're downloads are stored in your computer Now find the file you just downloaded Right click on the file name (this is a zipped file) Go down to where it says "Extract All" and click it You should have a screen pop up that says "Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders Click extract and close out the next screen
Now to your blogger page- First sign in then find the blog you wish to change and click the Layout tab then go where you see the tab that says "Edit HTML" and click it You see the section that says Backup/Restore Template--- Click on the Download Full template button (This saves your blog as it is to your computer in a file) Click save on both of the pop up windows Just under you'll see "Upload a template from a file on your hard drive"- Click browse Again you'll need to find where your downloads are stored in your computer Remember the name of the file you saved from btemplates.com? You'll two files with this name in your downloads now. One will be zipped (compressed) on will not be. Click on the one that is not. Click open in each window with file name that pops up until you have a box with more than one file showing. Now you want to click on the xml file. It usually looks like it has a picture of the earth in these <>. Click the xml file and the click open. Now on blogger, click upload. Caution: This will delete any widgets you may have on your blog. make sure you have them saved before you go any farther. Click confirm and save and waaa--laaaa

Posted - Jan 23 2009 : 08:50:38 AM I'm with Angie! I just started my blog www.mylusciousjourney.blogspot.com (about my weight loss) and it's pretty but very basic. I'm trying to find a counter i can add so I know how many people have visited my blog. Can anyone enlighten me on how to do that? Melanie where did you get your artwork for your blog? It's so cute. I love the outline of your pics and how you seperate the posts etc.. Care to share how you did it?
