Hi everyone, I'm out of retreat and back online and in the world. 2 days of errands in Tucson and then back to the yurt for me. Everyone's pretty much gone from the center now so there will be only me and 1 or 2 grizzled guys who live out there too. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can see where I live in my blog (www.wayofthewife.blogspot.com).

DH is going to San Diego to teach a course in Buddhist scripture so even though I just got out of retreat, it will be quiet and peaceful for a month until the students return and studies begin for 5 weeks. I have some sewing to do for my Etsy shop to keep me busy and I'm trying to learn to read Tibetan.

But I'm back and look forward to hanging out online - I'll need some farmgirl company! lol

Welcome back, Allison. I hope you had a great retreat. Can't wait to read about it.

Wow, Allison. It sounds fascinating. I would be interested in that, but I'd have no practical way to practice it..even in NYC! Yikes. But I've always been fascinated by languages. Haha, I'll have to take a trip over to Tibet just to learn, methinks.

Yay! The gang is here! It's good to be back and talking across the fence.

Zan, most of the senior students learned Tibetan from the old lamas, but these days, we send younger students to Sera May monastery in India to study the language and they come back and teach us the "intro" class. I took that class last term.

I only took it because a really good friend was teaching it. He was so worried no one would come that I took it. He's such a sweet soul and the funniest guy I know. The class was pretty large and I don't know how we learned anything through the "entertainment" - but we did!

Hey there Allison, welcome back, I was wondering how long your retreat would be...sounds wonderful Hmm...reading Tibetan, I can't imagine that would be easy, is there anyone there to actively teach it, or are there visiting rimpoches and lamas only once in awhile (please do not ask how I know about lamas and other priests)
