Inspired by Maryjane Lee's site and photos, along with the other "Sisters on the Fly", I "remade" the first of 2 travel cases for our '63 mini winnie camper trailer. Thanks for the inspiration!

Grace, I've been away from the computer for a few days. Love your case! Great job. Isn't it fun to give these cases a new look?

I found the dinette set long ago while my husband was building our sunroom. It sat in my office for some time and before the sunroom was done, I traded 20 buckets of wedding flowers (not even arranged) for the painting that was done on the table and chairs. I went to church with the girl who did the painting and the flowers were for her daughter's wedding. Both of us were thrilled with the trade.

Oh Tracy,
I would love to see the one from the 1930's...can you post a picture of it?
I have some more pic's on my blog...I did not decopauge the inside of this one because it was in excellent shape & had fabric lining. But the other one (in my blog) I did decopauge the inside cause it didn't look so nice.. Old hard sided suitcases are becoming hard to find and when I do, they are pretty pricey! yikes!
Oh well, at least I have these and will continue to scour flea markets, 2nd Hand stores & yard sales...

I have been collecting train cases ( that's what they were called in years past)for a couple of years and have 5 really nice ones. One of them is from the late 30's and in excellent condition. I love them.

hey Ann
Don't laugh, origionaly I was going to paint it lime green, so I started half way and then didn't like what I saw so I put it aside in my "UFO pile"....I have decopaged several med sized suitcases, which are fairly easy to do and I did another train case years ago, but it was an older style case, almost square in shape so it was much easier to do. I wasn't sure how to approach the rounded corners on my current one so I decided to tear up pieces of the gift wrap and apply them. Which makes rounding the corners easier for me.
Almost finished, I just need to add the embellishments.

I LUV the country vibrant colors you choose. Did you do anything to the inside? I would like to but am wondering how to attach an inner lining. I can sew the lining easy enough but not sure if glueing it in place will be sturdy enough. The current lining is blue & in great shape....hmmm what to do, what to do.... I also thought about using pre-padded fabric (like one would use in bedspreads), it might be easier to keep in place but then there is the bulk.... any ideas?
Oh & I forgot to ask, R-U a member of SOTF? MaryJane Lee, Jen-Lapetitefarmme, Sue Williams & myself are members,,,wonder if there are any other "sister" Sisters on the Fly gal here on MJF.
I am using my case for my trailer too. (pi'cs of my old & new-old trailers are on my blog).

Thanks all - it is fun to be inspired by each other! Grace - the two tone colors of yours is already very eye catching - is that what you did or is it "pre-remade"? Can't wait to see the final product!

These train cases are so inexpensive at the flea market but the possibilities are endless! You did a great job.

Ann, great job!
I too am working on one...I hand tore up my paper & glued on..Now I am in the mids of applying 2 coats of decopague medium. Tomorrow I will put 2 coats of varathyne on & then embellish it. I have a pic of the case & paper that I am using, on my blog. I'll post a picture this weekend of the finished case.
Aren't these great?
Mine is going in my vintage trailer.
Great minds think alike!

I just love it! Makes me want to go to thrift stores and look for little cases to cover. I've got one of that size in my closet now...had it since I was a teenager(back in the day) LOL!

Paper and oh so not perfect, but "perfectly flawed". I think the next one will be smoother.
