of any online classes in homesteading skills? I'd like to take some classes in various things - organic gardening, cheesemaking, etc. but there aren't any in our area and I don't have a car during the day. Does anyone know of any online classes?

Sherri, try visiting here http://www.smallfarms.wsu.eduto sign up for the course I was talking about or seeking others.

Have fun. I went to a Business Plan workshop put on by them a few years ago and it was really great.

Path to Freedom has links on "how to" do many things. Not sure if that will be helpful - it's not a class....

Haha, you two are cute! Hmm, doesn't Mary Jane or Hobby Farms or some such sell DVDs on these subjects?

Oh you got me laffin, girl...too funny. It's too bad you don't have a care or a car during the day. On January 31st There is a Country Living Expo at Stanwood High School. It sounds like great fun and lots of country farmy fun.

No Jami- you were right - I went back and edited it after I read your answer. I did say 'care'!

Sherri - not sure if you meant you don't have care for your mother during the day so you can't leave or if you don't "have a care" during the day like you have days free. I know of lots of farming classes from the Sustainable Ag team but they are not online. Most are low cost and are over on the west side, many in Snohomish county. I know of a sheep management course from Pipestone Vet Clinic that is online. That's all I can think of for now.

There's an awesome book at Costco for $17 called The Encyclopedia of Country Living and it's a wealth of homesteading ideas and practices. It's paperback and quite a thick book...well worth the $17. She covers everything...soapmaking, cheesemaking, gardening, baking, canning, livestock, butchering, etc.
