Yep, we are on a mission to purge as much stuff as we can. We have specific requirements for exactly the look we want in the house, the clothes we want to wear, the food we want to eat. etc...so I have been voracious in purging and donating. We purged 4 bags of clothing and soft items and 2 boxes of "stuf". I am having so much fun!! I feel clean and re-freshed.

I really know and feel that 2009 is the beginning of something wonderful for Scott and I and we needed a clean break from things that were holding us back.

I have been doing the same thing myself. I dropped off a trunk full the other day. I have only been going through a little bit at a time, so I don't get overwhelmed. I am only keeping clothing I absolutely love, fits well, and is of good quality. That alone weeds out half my wardrobe. Since losing thirty pound last year, most of my shirts were way too big, and make me look frumpy.

Just browsing the other day at the thrift, I picked up two sweaters from Eddie Bauer, (my favorite store!!!) one of which could only have been worn once.
I also picked up a pair of Born shoes, and a pair of Doc Martens for the girl and her beat up tootsies.

After I finish clothing -including the kiddie's clothes- I am moving onto fabric/crafts and household goods.

I would like to overhaul my living room in the fall of this year, so right now I am "shopping" at the thrift for that. Almost done!

Don't miss out on a blessing, just because it isn't packaged the way you expected. ~MaryJo Copeland

I know what you mean Heather! We have one room in our house that has been haunting me for the past 7 months. It is a MESS of boxes that we STILL haven't unpacked! So today I started tackling it because it going to be my "office with a door" so I can keep Nora out of my College things. I have gotten rid of some things into the garbage and I have a small donation pile- but a lot of it was just not using the space efficiently. Sometimes the cleaning really helps you see what you have! Hehehehe!

We got rid of 15 moving boxes (you know those 2.5 foot/2.5 foot ones)in November. Didn't think that we had so much stuff. The Salvation Army was thrilled however. Have another couple of bags to donate too. It does feel great to declutter.

Isnt it amazing the STUFF we have and NEVER use or stop using. I think if we had only what we enjoyed seeing and what we used it would help with alot of things. Excess is a huge problem and I know I'm guilty of this too.

Thank you for this reminder. Last week I donated two boxes of toys and clothes to Goodwill but I still have so much that causes me stress, not happiness. I was looking around the living room today and saw clutter on the bookcase, on top of the tv, and on the end tables so I took everything and put what I wanted away and put the rest in a box. I will do this room by room.
Last week while going through my closets and drawers I was shocked to find clothing that I hadn't worn in over two years! Granted, I've gone through a pregnancy during that time and have somewhat of a post-baby body still but if I haven't worn it in that long it needed to go. It was such a freeing feeling to pack it away and drop it off.

This month is my "purge" month too. I am gathering up all toys, clothes, and household items that can be donated. In the process I am organizing and cleaning, room by room. Not a good time, but necessary.

When I "clean" my clothes closet, I look at an article of clothing and say, "Have I worn this in the past year?". If the answer is no, out it goes! Our group, The FLORA Farmgirls (Friends and Ladies of the Ohio River Area)are going on a field trip in a few weeks to one of my favorite Goodwill Stores and then we are going to a restaurant for dinner and our meeting. I encouraged everyone to "purge" all during this month and then make a donation while we are there. I "purged" my closet last weekend and made a list of things I wanted to look for while at the Goodwill....hard to believe my life is getting so simple that I look FORWARD to going to a store that sells used clothes...lol

Heather~I have been doing the same. I have a very large pile sitting in our basement waiting for the first signs of spring when I can have a yard sale.

The more I declutter the better I feel. I have purged so many things since I've stayed at home. When I was working junk just accumulated everywhere.
It feels so good.

I've been doing it too. I was just asking about beauty products too. I have a vision as well as to what I want the house to look at and man is it easier to work with a few things rather than too much!

Heather, I am doing the same thing. When I come across something, I say to myself, "do I LOVE this?" or..."would I want to save this if my house was on fire?" I also think of the person that will buy it from the Salvation Army (that is where I bring everything) and I also think of the $$ that Salvation Army will make. Makes it easier to do!
