Heard on the news this a.m. that another team of industry execs will request multi-billions in bailout funds to save their industry.

Hold your hats everyone cause it's... the adult entertainment industry. Yep! that's right. The execs from Girls Gone Wild, Rondevoue (sp?) and another mega porn company are going to request billions in bailout money to prop up their lagging industry. Their rationale - escapeism from the stress of current economic conditions.

And, as the execs pointed out, it makes perfect sense to help them, 'cause in the Great Depression, "Gone with the Wind", the raceist book on the market, helped millions "get through" that tough economic tme. Just like their products will help in our difficult times.

I get it, don't you, "Gone with the Wind", Scarlet O'Hara and Rhett Butler and "Debbie does Dallas". I always get them confused they're sooo much alike.

OMG - I hardly know what to think about this new level in stupidity.

OK girls, here is what we can do. Lets take off all our cloths and parade around in front of our hubbies, or whoever. It will either turn them off of porn or turn them on to you. I have always thought that porn is the lack of something in the person looking. Take it from this 69 year old, it still works. I say, don't worry about what don't concern us. Washington is going to spend our money on dumb stuff, like it or not.

Maybe some of the girls in the industry would have to change professions! They might make good greeters at Walmart.

You know, I've never been one to "Buy into" -- "Gotta have a new car every two years, buy a house you can't afford, get your kids all those eletronic gizmos they just don't appreciate ANYWAY!!" etc.... In fact, our boys have been taught that if they want those sorts of things, they have to earn the money to buy it THEMSELVES!! They won't get them from US!

My grandpa (who grew up in the Great Depression with 7 siblings and a single mother!) always said "Never live outside your means kid, and whatever you do, don't buy on credit!!! (meaning the frivolous crap that MOST people use credit cards for!) He always said-- "If you can't pay CASH for it, you don't really need it!!!" He was right on so many things. Yes, I've done MY share of credit card spending, but I only have 3 (Sears, Gottshalks and a Visa) and all of them are within managable limits. 2 almost completely paid off!

Over the years I have already been leaning tword "self sufficiency." I save my heirloom seeds, raise my own sheep and milk goats, we grow our own hay to feed our animals AND sell some on the side (a very good SIDE business!!!) for a little extra income. I have learned to SQUEEEEEEZE a penny until if SCREAMS!!! (even when I didn't HAVE to!!) and have become VERY disciplined about shopping. I ALWAYS ask myself --- Do I NEED it? Or do I just WANT it? It always amazes me just HOW MANY things I will pull out of my cart and put back on the shelves because they were WANTS, and not NEEDS.

I look it at this way-- at least it was "mine" for just a FEW wee moments! Rarely do I ever regret not buying that "WANT" item anyway. Oh, and I also only carry X amount of cash on me (never write checks, except for some mail order things and household bills) and I count the price of every single item that goes into my cart so I am NOT surprised when I get the check out counter! My friends and family used to make fun of me for all of that, but not ANYMORE! They've actually adopted MY shopping habits!!! (he! he! he!)

Saw this in CNN, it appears to be a pulicity stunt (seems to be working). Apparently the porn industry is experiecing about a 20% reduction in video sales, so they want to make sure and get their dibs in early for the handouts....Good Grief!

Well, you know they won't be spending the money on clothes!!

If that industry failed it would not bother me in the least. IF they get a bailout I'm moving to Canada!

You know, I may be old fashioned and I am not rich but I have always believed that you live within your means and by doing that it should not really effect you if the economy takes a turn. I know sometimes circumstances and events change our lives and everyone has bad days. I have a problem with all these bailouts. Especially any x rated adult entertainment industry.

Yuk. I really don't think throwing money away will help any of our economical problems or any one business. We need to set our priorities straight and get ourselves back on track. OK first each of us must get our finances in order. Pay off those credit card balances. Make sure our houses are in order and that our tables are not bare. Right now no matter how much money they throw in the pot (government) will this really solve the problems? NO. We have been told a pack of lies- got to buy this and got to have or need this. What we need right now is the basics. Yes it will hurt but all were doing to ourselves with all of these bailouts is pushing the problems until later and making the errors of our ways larger. Yes we do need to spend but spend what we have and not what we don't. That includes the government.

Well, I would think that over half of our elected officials are supporters of adult entertainment when I see so many of them in trouble all the time and getting caught in very bad "positions". It happens all the time lately. I hear of this one or that one being caught in an adulterous affair nearly every month. So what should we expect anyway? This is our country now. And it's so common that it's just no big deal anymore. Really sad where we are going with all this mess.

Tracey - I loved your comment "who would vote for this". Yes, I do wonder. Hope it wouldn't be any of my elected officials.

Somehow I have a hard time believing that the porn industry is in trouble...

Very funny gambit by Larry Flint though!

Perverts Prevail!! While I'm not a fan of the "Adult Industry," you gotta give the guy credit if it IS Larry Flynt behind it!! It puts a whole new spin on things when looked at from that angle doesn't it? That's too HILARIOUS!!!! Oh how I'd LOOOOVE to sit in on THAT "bail out" decision process!!! Makes me curious to know just WHO would actually vote YES on it.....

I'm pretty sure Larry Flynt is doing this for publicity and to make a point (i.e. the ridiculousness of the bail-outs). Actually, I heard in a report of this that the adult-entertainment industry is actually doing exceptionally well right now!
