we have had a glorious day today! Our church service was wonderful, (got to sing a special with my daughters) had 14 for dinner, phones calls to loved ones and from loved ones. Later, after the football game, I will make chocolate fondue and we will watch "White Christmas". One thing that I have missed over the years as my girls have gotten older, is the sound of small voices at Christmas. the Lord blessed me with the unexpected, though very pleasent addition of a family with 4 small children. Our table comfortably seats 8, so we made a children's table and had a grand time. After we ate we went to the living romm and sang Christmas carols, then had dessert. After all left, I made tea and read Dickens Christmas Carol, reveling in the beauty of the day.

Our Christmas was wonderful. On Christmas Eve we went to Missy's and had a wonderful turkey dinner. Then off to church for a beautiful candlelight service. I just felt so blessed as I looked down the row at our whole family sitting with their faces glowing from the candlelight. Then we went back to Missy's to open presents which was so much fun. Christmas Day we had a lazy morning at home, opened our presents to each other, and then went to my in-laws in the late afternoon. It was a good holiday filled with so many blessings. I took my decorations down yesterday and am ready for the new year. I'm looking forward to 2006!

Our Christmas was wonderful. Gift giving was reduced to 20.00, but I can never stick to this and always like to spoil my family and those close to us.

My husband and I were off work at the same time for a nice long stretch. And we actually went shopping together! (he went willingly)

2005 was a great year for all in our family (for once!)

I have to work until this Tuesday and will take our tree down then. That's when I get the post Christmas let-down. I'll probably bake some cookies too.

We are truly blessed

Here at Snowden Cottge we had a great Christmas!! Had our kids... 2 daughters, Son-in-laws and our 5 grandsons over on Christmas Eve morn for brunch: Apple Cinnamon French toast, fresh from the coop scrambled eggs and bacon and oven roasted rosemary potatoes! YUM We opened gifts after..it was less chaotic then when we wait till after our Christmas Eve service..the two 2 1/2 year old grandsons not so overtired and wild :)...our service was beautiful..all candlelight and beautiful music..Our two daughters sang. Then the best part..the next day after church we went over to our youngest daughters house...and I didn't have to cook or do dishes!!!! I did bring rolls and salad but that's not cooking, to me! Our girls took over the holiday dinners last year..wanted to start their own traditions..and we were Ok with that..it seems more "hectic" to me cuz my DH is a pastor and we are really, really busy from Thanksgiving on..so it was a real blessing for our girls to want to have us pass on the holiday preparations to them..and it really was less stressful for us and we could really enjoy the time with family and friends. We even changed our "staff" dinner from a formal sitdown here at our home to a catered dinner at a local restaurant..It was a treat for everyone! It really was a wonderful and Blessed Christmas! I was sick too on Christmas day and slept most of the day. Luckily, my family celebrated Christmas on the 27th, so I was fine by then. Got to watch It's A Wonderful Life, Charlie Brown, and White Christmas, made lots of cookies for gifts with my new oven, family came from out of town, my guy came to stay for 5 days (yea!)with his dog and two cats, so everything was good.

Sharon, sorry to hear that you were feeling so bad at Christmas, but gladder still that you are feeling better.Sounds like friends and neighbors portrayed the true spirit of the season. Julia V.

It sounds as if you've all had a wonderful Christmas! I was sick :( My husband ended up taking me down to the emergency clinic at 8 that night. Antibiotics and Clairatin are doing their magic and I'm back among the living...mostly...just in time to take care of my daughter, who is now getting "it". But what a blessing to have the ability to get to the doctor and wonderful friends and neighbors to help with kids and meals. A truly blessed Christmas after all!
Healthy New Year to you all!

This was the first year we had a little one over for Christmas Dinner. DH's cousin's 5 year old grand daughter Mikayla. She gave two of our cats (George & Gracie) a run for their money, they have never dealt with a fast little girl before - quite funny. Today they are all tired out and are recouperating. We had a wonderful dinner and everyone went home well fed.

Sounds wonderful, Julia. Mine sounds a bit like yours...for the first time in 5 years my husbands family was all together for Christmas. (...we met 2 years ago, so I had never experienced this!) He is the youngest of 5, so it was a houseful! Our sister in law's parents came with her from the Czech Republic, too. They really deepened the experience, because it was their first time in America, and their very first Christmas! All of us went all out....in the way of holiday traditions...to show them what an English/American Christmas is like. We had 12 stockings by the fire, feasts, sing alongs, all the traditional foods...and they brought with them Czech hymns, carols, toys, etc. After dinner we went to see Narnia as a family. I sort of fell in love with my inlaws yesterday. They have added an interesting layer to my life that I never really expected.
