Ok, back to the challenge, after taking some time off.

1. Organize those stashes of tupperware and storage items, including plastic bags and wrap and foils.

2. Extra credit- put your canvas shopping bags on the FRONT seat of your car, so you don't forget them.

Have fun!!!

Cleaning Challenge of Friday:

Clean up the play room. We all have one- whether it be for kids or adults, we each have some area that gets most of the concentration for our recreation. If you sit and knit on the couch- that counts! Make sure the recreation items are organized, the area is dusted/vacuumed what have you. If the carpet of upholstery needs shampooed- go for it! There will never be a better time than right now!

Just coming across these challenges - very cool idea! I was working on our basement yesterday, probably my least favorite project. It's a jumble of laundry area, pantry and soap company stuff. It gets a little overwhelming. But I've gotten a bit of order to it again and today I'm SORE!
kristin sherrill Posted - Jan 29 2009 : 07:16:53 AM
Just checking in to see if there is a Thur. challenge. I could probably come up with something. It's too cold outside to doo all that needs done out there yet. So need some inside work.

The bedroom is looking good so far, even with the hubbt here 24/7. He's being a good boy. Even putting his dirty's in the laundry basket so far! Basically, he's in the living room most of the time. Not much to pick up after.

That is great, Kristin! Part of my laundry room include what used to be the root cellar/storage/basement. So I decided I would sweep the steps while I stowed some things in storage. I am really glad I did! I found a dead mouse down there! EEEEE!

It's wearing me out just reading these posts...I'm so glad I'm organized! I love being able to go to whatever place I need to and find just what I'm looking for. My sewing room is my favorite, cuz it's all mine and no one has any reason to go in there. I have 3-400 yards of fabric all rolled a special way and stacked by colors so it's all visible and easy to get at. I am very grateful to my mother for teaching me how to be organized. It makes my life soooo much easier....just wish it would rub off on my hubby!

Allison- yes. It is very dirty! At least in my house where we have a dog and a toddler who seems to think that under furniture is a great place to stash things! LOL

Wow, I just found this thread. It's great. What bothers me is how many times I've had to do all this in my life....like Bridget mentioned about organizing, I am really good at it, but it's the constant stuff that comes in to be organized that makes me nuts. LOL

We pared down to next to nothing finally and used no disposables except the kids had TP and I used foil for some things. That helped loads!

But....well, it was my fault....er....ummm.....the darned crafts! LOL

So as I am now making things to sell on Etsy, I am trying to limit what I have on hand to make exactly what I want to make 'right now'.

My next challenge will be to sell off my stock, eventually close my shop, and just for enjoyment - I'm learning to knit, finally, so whe I want to do something with my hands, I'll get the yarn I need and do one project until I finish. How will I keep myself from accumulating? It's southern Arizona and I love wool. I won't be able to tolerate day after day of wool draped across me. It will be an evening treat but not as much of a compulsion as sewing is for me.

I did cringe in guilt when I read the challenge to vacuum under the furniture. I think DH did it a few times...uh...is it really dirty under there? :-)

I am so far behind now! I was doing so good. But this should keep me busy for the next several days. The pantry is a big challenge that I have been wanting to do but can't get in the mood to do. So I guess now I have to to keep up.

January 20th Challenge!!

Clean out your bedroom closet. Pack away the really summery clothes, but get out those lighter weight sweaters and Jackets! Spring is on it's way! Wipe down any shelves and don't forget the hanger rod too while you are in there! Vacuum or wash the floor and don't forget the corners!

A nice sachet of dried lavender and cedar will help keep the bugs away and make your clothes smell lovely!

Here is today's challenge!

Wash all your interior windows and check the sills for mold growth! With our houses being more shut up in the winter, internal moisture levels can cause mold to flourish! Knock out that mold with vinegar or a mild bleach and soap solution.

Extra Credit-

Take all your floor rugs outside and shake them! Or if you prefer, wash them if they are washable. A good welcome mat can trap 75% of outside dirt from coming inside the house! Beat your welcome mat and sweep under it.

Thanks Lori! My bathroom isn't dirty as in built up- but it needs some mildew control on the ceiling and such, so I figured that would be a good goal today.

Hey Challengers!!

Can you make a quick list of the places in your house that most need help? And no fair saying "Everywhere!!" Maybe we can start targeting the problem areas!

Here are mine-
Dining Room clutter
Living Room clutter
Bedroom everything
Carpets Shampoo
