All day today on TVLand channel they've had a marathon of I Love Lucy reruns, counting down to the funniest episodes. It was so neat to see some of the most hilarious shows they made. And to see all the beautiful clothes her and Ethyl wore. And the aprons! My goodness, to have even one of those aprons would be great. There should be a book on just their aprons with patterns. But wouldn't it be so fun if those dress styles were to come back in style? Wouldn't it be even more fun if I could even fit in one of her dresses? Ha! To have a waste thet small is just a dream to me.

So I have had a kind of nostalgic day today. It is good to laugh alot and Lucy sure can do that. The funniest episode is when her and Ethyl traded places with their husbands and got jobs at the candy factory. I loved at the end when Ricky and Fred said that they would keep making the money and Lucy and Ethyl could keep spending it. What good men they were.

So what did ya'll do today? Kris

Have any of you ever read the biography about Lucy's REAL life? She had a very sad childhood, raised by a VERY strict grandmother. Her mother couldn't afford to take care of her AND her brother, so she was left in the care of her mean grandmother. Her life with Desi was not easy either. He was quite the philanderer. Never faithful... but Lucy loved him silly.

She actually started her career as a model, then signed on at the studios as an extra and also danced with the Ziegfeld follies. She was also a natural BLONDE! Not the Redhead everyone remembers.

She was a VERY shrewd businesswoman too. The powerhouse behind Desilu productions. They say she was VERY hard to work with-- such a perfectionist, quick to criticize (they ALL disliked the guy who played Fred!), though quick to apologize. She always worried about others too, but she never asked any more of those around her that she didn't expect from herself. A very passionate person with a talent beyond her time. After reading that biography, it makes me appreciate her talents on the screen even more. I Love Lucy too!!!

I remember my mom in the dresses all day with aprons on. She had the smallest waste, too. Like the hourglass figure. What happened to those? Now we're mostly pear shaped! I think women had to starve themselves to be able to fit in those styles of dresses. And the high heels all day, too. My favorite outfit Lucy wore was on the show where they were in Hollywood and met William Holden. She had the lacy long sleeve black long jacket with pants underneath. Now that was pretty.

I watched most if it. I remember one time CHer said this about "I Love Lucy" episodes, something like, "no matter what you are doing, when one comes on, you just have to stop & watch, & invariably, you WILL laugh. Which I always do. Still & I've ssen them all a million times. I am amazed at how they always joke about Ethel's weight, when jeez she had a waist & everything; she couldn't have been bigger than a size 10.
I just love Fred, & that Desi was a hottie now wasn't he?
Great show; Lucy was comedic genius.

I Love Lucy is one of my favorites of all time. I think the VitaVegaVitamin episode is hilarious. I remember my mom wearing dresses like Lucy and Ethel's and thinking she looked so elegant. Although she did not wear them all the time! lol I had a red dress in that style in the 70's (must have been a retro phase) that I wish I could wear now. Gee whiz, I don't think I could get my arms through the sleeves even.
Don't you wish we could go back to that time period when things were simpler? I sure do.

Lucy and Desi are two of my favorite entertainers of all time. And the forties and fifties, although before my time, are my favorites. (especially the forties) I love old time radio, especially Jack Benny and Lucy's old show, My favorite husband. They do have all of the I Love Lucy shows out on dvd. I just finished collecting them a few months ago. They are so worth having.
Take care everyone and Happy New Year!

I saw that was on TVland, but it's not part of our package. I would really have loved to watch that. But I see Lifetime has a day full of Lucy coming up in a couple days. I'm going to try to catch part of that!
