After seeing our farmgirl queen and her goddess daughter last Saturday, I came home and wrote you all about it. I was on cloud nine. Just wonderful feel good energy all the way around.. I have to admit that during some moments of being completely starstruck, I filled my head with self doubt and insecurity. I found myself wondering, "Am I speaking in complete sentences? Is it obvious I don't have much adult conversation in my life since I'm raising a 4 year old and 2 year old full time? Am I doing alllllllllll the talking here? Why am I telling them these stories?" etc.. you get the idea.. These were fleeting ideas but nonetheless there. Meg and Maryjane have a unique ability to create calm and ease and I am very grateful for that. Maryjane mentioned something about a surprise for me and was about to spill the beans when a gentle nudge from Meg silenced her. We had a great laugh and both agreed that we are terrible secret keepers! Its all I can do to keep presents wrapped for opening Christmas morning. I left the store and their delightful company and never it gave it a second thought...
Last night I was in bed thinking about an apron that belonged to my aunt. It is one of very treasures I have and I use it all the time. Reo, my son, was playing with it yesterday, using it as a cape and it occured to me that my aunt's spirit is still very much alive even those she passed away 25 years ago. I was suddenly hearing her laughter in my head and visiting many incredible childhood memories with her. I started thinking of writing a little story about her and her apron and how the fabric of her life is still very much sewn to mine and now my son's. I thought about Maryjane's magazine and wondered if perhaps this story might be a fit.. Again those self-doubting demons voiced their opinions ever so briefly, but I became determined.(Meg, I was thinking of firing off an email with this story for your review and if you can use it great and if not, no worry!! The exercise of writing will be very carthartic for me.)My last thought was, I really want to write this story and send it to the farm..maybe I'll get a sign one way or the other...
I woke up this morning and there on our kitchen table was a box from Maryjane's farm! WHAT? What's this? I tore it open like a kid on Christmas morning..The note inside was full of farmgirl love and cheer. I noticed my bright red Maryjane's Farm baseball hat with the hand-stitched inscription "JANE DEERE" in celebration of me and my new tractor. Meg noted that this was her first free-hand stitching. I am over the moon now, swept off my feet, breathless and speechless!! this was my sign..so I will write that story, send it to you and you can let me know if it fits.
How does one say thank you? the obvious, is "thank you!" but this is a pale expression to reflect my sentiments. I'm inclined to say that I have been swept off my feet as one is when one falls in love. This act of kindness and celebration is so joyous, pure and beautiful. I am filled to overflowing with gratitude and inspiration. This is the farmgirl spirit in action and certainly the spirit of Meg and Maryjane alone.
I will treasure this hat, your note and you!! I will share your spirit with everyone I encounter. From the bottom my heart, thank you!
Many blessings and excited little fingers allllllll over!
Julia Hayes

Heeee heeee heeee Meg! Sometimes songs left on voicemail are just the best!! I have a friend who hums her messages..sometimes no words, just humming.. Never fails; a smile descends that doesn't dare leave! I was thinking of bringing some farmgirl cheer to the farm this week, but the kids are fighting off a wee little bug. Not enough to really keep them down, but enough that I don't want them exposing any innocent victims before the holidays. That and Doc has been sneaking away early from work..it has been VERY fun!! all my love, Julia H

Julia!! You are so fabulous!! I saved your lovely little thank you song on our voice mail so that I might hear it each day when I check the morning messages! All you farmgirls just mean so much to me! I am constantly inspired by you!

Much farmgirl love!

Hi Julia!
You truly are a "dear"!!! You have a wonderful writing style ~ you should write a children's book!! When you write, you have a way of expressing your enthusiasm so that it is contagious. I wonder where you find the time and energy to be such a wonderful, loving mother and write such lovely letters!
cheerily yours,
Cindylou

i LOVE the "JANE" Deer logo! (if we drop the 'e'(so the DEERE company doesn't come after us .. sounds pretty 'marketable' to me! loved reading your 'report' of your adventures with MJ and Meg ... have not yet met .. but it's on my list of 'things to do in this lifetime'. I especially loved the sweet story you wrote of the apron strings that tie you to the heart of your dear aunt. Thanks for sharing! xo, frannie
