Would they know what you meant by that and even better- would they help you find it?
Doug knew that I meant my razor cutter for cloth and he was the one to find it!

I just had a thought. He can go out in his garage when he's looking for something and go right straight to it. Even if he's forgotten the name of it. Knows exactly where it is.Even after 2 weeks. It's amazing. Like animal instinct or something. Now when I go out there for a specific thing, it's no where to be seen. He even tells me where it is. Nope, can't see it. Then there he goes in there and goes right to it. It's like the biggest mess of stuff out there, but he knows where everything is. And when I go and use something and don't put it back where it was, it's like he can't function. He gets all crazy.

I have a hard time with names of things, too. It is funny when trying to explain to my husband or just any guy what I'm looking for with all the hand gestures and noises it makes and all that. And they still look like I'm crazy. It happens a lot here. And then when he does actually get up out of his recliner, he only looks ON things. Have ya'll ever noticed that or is it just mine? He never moves things and looks UNDER other things. Just the surface. He's so tall it's hard for him to bend over. The other day he wanted diet coke and I had just found one (in the back of the fridge that day I cleaned it out!) and put it on the top shelf in front now. He comes to sit down with a glass of water and I said didn't you see the coke in the fridge? He says no. I said it's right there on the top shelf right up front there. He goes and opens the door and looks and says where, I don't see it. It's right there in front of him! He just has to bend a little and there it is! Good grief! So he finally got his diet coke after I went and handed it to him. He just looks at me and grinned.
But aren't they just the neatest things ever??!!

Alee, Brian would first look at me like I was off my rocker, then laugh to himself because he knew exactly what I was talking about. Then he'd razz me a bit for the name I called it, then finally he'd help me look for it!!

Tis good to know, we are all in the same boat, My Dh(whom is very sweet), would look and not knowing where to, he would finally say, "Cant seem to locate it"...LOL!!

Yes I know about kids & scissors.. My kids constantly used the Good Scissors for everything they happen to need shears for. Often I found them outside, and in drawers they did not belong in. with sticky goo of some kind ,glue, glitter & who knows . All I can say now is "I hope their Kids do the same thing to them.".& The I can just smile with the "Yep Look".
I already told DH I would have to kill him if he even looked like he was going to use these new pinking shears."

This has been the hardest thing to teach my family! I always ask if they say paper on them. I think they -hubby included- have finally learned that, yes, there is a difference!

Mine would know too. He even bought me a new pair of scissors one year and made sure our kids knew that they were mine and mine only..... You see one year my son used my sewing scissors to cut sandpaper. He now knows which pair he can't use for sure.

Cheryl, My daughter gave me a pair of Ginger sissors about 25 years ago. I keep them in their box and I never never cut anything but fabric with them. I learned that from my Grandma who was a dressmaker. I always thought it was funny that she would trim a pattern with a different pair of sissors, then would pin on the pattern, then cut with her fabric sissors. Enjoy your new Gingers. |

If I said this, my daugther would know what I meant. The boy child, however, wouldn't know one if he fell over it. BUT, once found, he would want to try them on something, and figure out a way to use them for some destructive "boy" thing he does.
For now, I let him live in ignorance as he has already taken my kitchen shears into the black hole that is his room.  Never to see the light of day again!

I love living with a person for so long that you come up with names for things that only you two would know what they meant. For instance the word "GERNK". It is a word used to describe an area on a wall or ceiling where it steps out a bit....lol....
