* I'm posting this from where I posted on a private horse site as I don't have a lot of time on the net tonite... :-)
Hubby has been very sick and after spending close to $40K (you read right!), it all boils down to stress. He's over-stressed and his body had started to rebel. So I left him at home and I'm in Denver, CO delivering a load and then back home to pick him up.
The Doc said for him to really get some close friends and re-bond with his old ones...not the superficial friends he meets on the road, where he sees someone for a few minutes, talks and that's that...but really deep, abiding friendships.
So, he's doing some fun stuff with an old friend and having a blast. His symptons have disappeared and he has a bounce in his step now. He quit smoking on the spot when he thought it was a heart attack (or stroke or migraine or...) and hasn't smoked since. BTW, neither have I. I had a scare with a thing in my mouth and I quit then and there. No regrets either. The thing in my mouth turned out to be nothing but still, it scared me anyway.
So, it's a d*ng good thing we are insured to the max!! This is a new insurance company and I'll bet they wished they had never heard of us! hehehe...
I'm trying to figger out whether to buy an aircard or just get on the net when I can, wherever I can. But money has been a little short since I'm the only one working but at least we are debt free and are still able to pay all the bills.
Welp, don't know when I can get back on but thought I'd just check in...

I'm so glad it didn't turn out to be more serious - like heart or stroke. I think we tend, especially guys, to forget how important it is to connect with people. This will certainly be a joyous Holiday for you both.

You'll know when the time is right to make the big change that you've talked about, Winona. I too love the Prineville area, but it seems lots of folks feel that way now from the growth there. Same here in Ellensburg though so no place is better than another but the grass sure can look greener somewhere else sometimes.

Seems we have alot in common.....my DH is a retired truck driver, just 2 years now......I never drove but was the "wife at home", he loved trucking....and misses it terribly. He too had some health problems, heart, diabetes and prostrate. Has things under control for the most part and is having a very hard time being at home, as well as myself having a hard time with him home all the time, tho I love him to pieces!! thank goodness I still work full time. We also lived about 45 miles so. of Bend for 10 years, what a beautiful area.....we loved it. Hope hubby continues to improve, friends are such a vital connection!! You keep on truckin', but be sure to take care of yourself too, keep the shiny side up.

Thanks for the support and thoughts! Welp, you do what you have to do to survive! I know he would do it for me, no questions asked!
Yep, this is a hard life but I like it *so far*. Trucking has sure paid for a lot of good things in our lives but I need to get closer to home and play with my horse a bit more...and he needs to go hunting and fishing with his buddies.
I know I keep saying we're going to change, but it gets really easy to get excited about something and then fall back into the 'comfortable', y'know?? So now we both have a place we want to be and are excited about it. He wants to move up close to Bend, OR and I like the Prineville area. Somewhere in there sounds really good to us.

Winona, glad to hear he's doing better. Stress can do a lot of damage to the body I think.

Winona, it's good to hear from you and glad DH is better! You're a good wife to take the wheel while he's recuperating and keep things going. That's the real farmgirl spirit. Take care of yourself too!

So glad ya'll found out what's wrong with your hubby. Stress sure is a killer. I'm glad he's able to have a break, too. I know how hard it is . I'm just the wife of a truck driver, and he gets very lonely out there. He was just in Denver, too, this week. So be careful and take care of yourself, too.
You are a good person to do what you do. I see women out there driving trucks all the time and I wonder how they do it. It's a tough life. I'm on the other end and it's tough for me, too. But not like ya'll. I thank you for all you are doing.

Nice to hear from you Winona! I had lots of symptoms from stress a few years ago- tight chest, shaking hands, and because I could never relax, I even started losing my vision! I would hav spells of up to 30 seconds where I would have complete black outs. It was super scary! I am so glad that his friend is there to help him destress and that he wasn't more ill than stress!
