Posted - Dec 05 2008 : 06:38:04 AM Christmas gift(s) as a child?
For me I'd have to say my easy bake oven, liddle kiddle dolls, and the beautiful vanity that my parents made for me. It had a purple floral flocked material skirt my mom made for it, and a tri fold mirror that sat on top. Dad made the the actual vanity out of wood, and sanded and painted it white. I felt like a princess the first time I sat at it!

Posted - Dec 05 2008 : 7:40:08 PM I loved my easy bake oven, book box sets, any Barbie stuff and a beautiful blue sweater and skirt set I got when I was in 7th grade. Most of all, I loved when my family all together at my Grandparents house.

My bouncing wonder horse. His name was Trigger just like Roy Roger's steed. I spent many happy hours riding away and he was passed on to our neighbors young kids after the four of us got too old for him. |

Posted - Dec 05 2008 : 7:16:35 PM My cedar hope chest. It was the only gift I can remember that I was told that my Dad picked out for me all by himself.:) I was remember being disappointed at not seeing it under the Christmas tree that year, but little did I know that my parents had a little scavenger hunt for we children that year. Mine let me into Dad's workshop where my beautiful cedar waited for me!! :O) It is no longer my hope chest, but is now my chest of memories one of which itself will always hold of my Dad that year.

Posted - Dec 05 2008 : 09:29:52 AM While I did get the traditional dollhouse like most little girls, in true farmer fashion my dad made sure that I also had a barn (not related to the house). It was the coolest thing. It was metal, had a cupola on top and a silo. There was a lot of fencing and so many animals - adults and babies. I loved putting my pigs in the pen and bringing the cows into the stall to eat their hay. When I got older and didn't play with it anymore, it still came out whenever kids were at our house. They always asked to play with the barn. I still have it and I think I'll get it out this year for Christmas. Maybe I'll just leave it out all year for inspiration!

Posted - Dec 05 2008 : 07:16:46 AM I think it had to be the cradle my dad made for my dolls (except I didn't like dolls) so I would dress up our incredibly patient cat, Fritz, in bonnets and baby gowns and put him in there. |

Posted - Dec 05 2008 : 06:48:34 AM A basketball. Don't remember getting much girlie stuff. However, I still have one of my dolls. She is sitting in an antique rocker in my bedroom. The only reason she survived is because I didn't play with her. |
