Posted - Dec 04 2008 : 3:12:43 PM This year, without meaning to, I am doing a completely handmade holiday with one exception.
We draw names in our family, so instead of buying 19 people just on our side alone (not counting spouse families) plus spouse families...we buy one present. It really helps.
Well I drew my dad's name and Doug drew my grandfather's name.
So then the age-old question starts popping up. What are we going to get everyone?
So:
Dad- A handmade leather-bound lined composition sized journal
Grandpa- A big box full of homemade cookies, breads, rolls and such since he loves that kind of thing and he buys everything he wants anyway!
Doug's Mom, Aunt and Grandmother are getting some of my mom's beautiful glass jewelry
Doug's Cousin- a T-Shirt from ETSY
Doug's Brother- a box of goodies just like my grandpa
Doug's dad- the only one we aren't getting homemade- A box from Hillshire Farms.
So now the economic stress has been lifted! Buying handmade was much more cost effective than trying to buy from a store for everyone!

Posted - Dec 04 2008 : 6:23:33 PM I am going to try my best to give all homemade next year. This year I started late on making gifts. But I made for or am still making for everyone except the kids and my fiance. Well my youngest daughter, I made one of her gifts. But my guy??? I'm not sure what to make for him. Maybe I can find someone who does leather work. I'd like to have a belt made for him with maybe a team roping design made into the leather. If any of gals know someone who does leatherwork, will you let me know?

Posted - Dec 04 2008 : 4:39:35 PM Hey Alee, I agree! I'm all about handmade, even in this crazy city..I try to support the artisan stores I think, especially if you are an artsy person, you should support other artists ![](icons/icon_smile_blush.gif)
