Oh for sure... I give up! I feel there are more important issues to complain about in our household, the toilet lid up is just a mental reminder I know its going to be that way & turn on the light before sitting down... My Dh is so good in other ways so....tolerant of my few..shortcomings. ha!

I happened to be on call for work and had my pager in my pocket. When I was doing what I needed to do it slipped out of my pocket into you know where. I never really told them what happened ; just that it had malfunctioned.

I used to run an at home daycare, and I had one child who loved to drive me nuts. One day, while they were supposed to all be sleeping, he got up and started playing in the bathroom. Now mind you this was a 4 year old child who I would have thought knew better, but he took 4 wash rags and began flushing them down the toilet. As my loo was backing up, he then took a brand new bottle of Chanel perfume and sprayed roughly 1/2 the bottle into the toilet. I came into the bathroom as the toilet was overflowing. All of this happened in just minutes!!! Ended up having to call the plumber--and his mother. She paid for the bill and was so apologetic, but I couldn't see keeping that child in my class.....I see him every now and then and just smile.

Hmm... I accidentally flushed a cleaning rag down a client's toilet once! I was wiping the rim and had just flushed after cleaning and I dropped the rag because I can never hold onto things when I am wearing rubber gloves. Well this how was on top of a hill and it had a very strong "pull" so this small rag got sucked right down. I tried to fish for it, but it was gone and it never caused any problems. I was sweating bullets too because I couldn't afford a plumbing bill!

This is great, I have droped all kinds of things in, but the thing I remember the most was my dad worked about an hour and a half from home in one direction and my mom worked an hour in the other direction about 2 1/2 hrs from each other well my dad calls my mom and says hun I need my extra set of keys I just flushed mine down the toilet! I dont know who was maddest mom for having to drive that far then back home or dad cause he had done something so stupid! I'm sure I was the only one laughing for quite awhile (at least untill the both cooled off).

A couple of years ago we were at my in-laws' house for Thanksgiving. I went to the bathroom and used the last of the roll of toilet paper, so I got a new roll out and took the toilet paper holder off to slide the roll on. Well, it was one of those 2 piece holders (I didn't even know they came that way!) and one end slid off and fell right in the toilet - which of course I hadn't flushed yet. I stood there and gaped at it for a sec, and then I decided I'd use the toilet brush to hold the metal holder there while I flushed so I could stick my hand in and rescue it. I had no idea how strong toilets are - I flushed and with one "clink" that thing was GONE! Oh, it was awful - I had visions of it being stuck deep inside the pipes and them having to tear floors up, etc....plus I had to go out and explain what I'd did...I was mortified!! Hee hee! Luckily it never caused any problems!

Once my mom, who has now passed, was travelling with three other widows and they shared a hotel room. Mom put her dentures in a cup on the back of the toilet and they accidentally slipped in and got flushed down by one of the other women! There she was miles from home and no teeth. She was so mortified, and I think it put a strain on that friendship. Dentures cost a lot, and the other lady could not help out.....it was a mess. I always felt so sad thinking of my mom with no teeth, and how embarrassed she must have been. Sorry about the downer story.....I just remember it so vividly.

Oh my gosh, how I laughed reading all of these! One time I emptied the dirty water container from my carpet shampooer into the toilet and a piece fell off and I didn't see it and my hubby ended up having to take the toilet apart to get it out! I have fished out plenty of things from my kids, including Bob the builder figures to whole rolls of toilet paper!

Me. :( I remember right after I had my first child and had to potty in the middle of the night. Not wanting to wake anyone up, I tip-toed to the bathroom in the dark and sat down, only to end up in some very cold water. Yep, the hubs had left the seat up! Honestly. I no longer worry about waking someone up- the light automatically goes on.
