Farm girlfriends, I found this sweet little book of poetry about friends while going through my books last evening. I thought this would be a good time to share it.

It would be lovely to hear your stories of an especially dear friend that has crossed your path at sometime in life. Whether we live in a crowded city, a small little town or way back down a country road somewhat isolated .. friends are such an important aspect of life. And if you have a favorite poem or saying of 'friendship' .. please do share it with us.

================================================

This one has always been my most favorite:

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The Arrow And The Song

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

==========================================

and this dear picture has these little words of wisdom by William Wordsworth:

Small Service

Small service is true service while it lasts;
Of friends, however humble, scorn not one;
The daisy, by the shadow that it casts,
Protects the lingering dewdrop from the sun.

Isn't that an incredibly sweet thought .. how important each and every friend is .. how we all have our gifts to give.

Oh please do let us know of a friend, a friendship poem or thought that has touched your heart.

(I will tell, soon, of my very best childhood girlfriend, Grace. We became friends in kindergarten (in the mid 1940's) and are very best girlfriends to this very day.)

True Friends, Frannie

Frannie- Those poems are just to precious! I just love losing arrows, I imagine I will find one or two again down the road when they are needed most!
xoxo, Rebekka
