A meeting I was scheduled to attend this morning before work was cancelled at the last minute, leaving me with almost 2 hours to kill. I decided to run by one of the local "dollar stores" (we have 3 or 4 different types even in my smallish town) and look for a few stocking stuffers for my kids. After finding some great bargains (explained below), I zipped around town, stopping at all of the dollar-type store, and found some fantastic bargains! Here are a few:

the Sports Illustrated page-a-day calendar for 2009 that I saw just this weekend at a chain bookstore for $13.99 was $1 -- yes, $1

a box of 16 Dayspring (a nice brand) Christmas cards for $1

some scrapbooking supplies that I know cost upwards of $10 in hobby stores and scrapping stores for $1 each

I picked up the items I knew I could use as either stocking stuffers or as birthday gifts for the coming year (my Christmas shopping is done and presents wrapped). On my lunch hour, I checked prices online and figured that I got approximately $137 of name-brand, currently being sold stuff, for $12 plus tax. A savings of $117.

I'm so excited and thought I'd share with you ladies.

Some people search for happiness; others create it.

Wow! That is awesome! I love getting great bargains like that!! I once loaded up on all sorts of name brand shampoo and cosmetics at a dollar store. I couldn't believe a shampoo that sells for $8 a small bottle was being sold for a dollar!
