Posted - Nov 17 2008 : 8:41:55 PM This is hard to write but she lost her battle to cancer this evening in the hospital with her family around her. She went back into the hospital last night and they knew this was the end. She was in no pain when she passed away.
She appreciated every card that was sent, it reminded her that her life mattered to each of you and she made a difference in this world, she certainly has in mine.
Now I have a request for you farmgirls. I would like to do a presentation to her husband and children of all the ways her live mattered to each of us. If she made things for you or shared with you, could you write them down and send them to me. I want to give back the love that she gave to me.
If you need her address to send cards to her family, let me know as well.
She has forever printed love on my heart and I will never forget her love towards me......

Posted - Nov 23 2008 : 08:40:42 AM I found out today that my dear friend Clare has passed away. You would have to look up my start date on this forum, but soon after finding this forum, Clare found me. She emailed me after reading my response to a topic about what magazines we subscribe to. We were both magazine junkies, and it turned out our tastes were quite similar. We were instantly sisters. We wrote each other real snail mail letters, sewed each other gifts just because and encouraged each other in our walk with God. Her family was always topic number one and I feel as if I know them from her words and the pictures she sent. She made me a beautiful half apron from Christmas fabric of green and gold and red cardinals; it was the first apron ever made for me and it hangs in my kitchen year around. I have so many gifts she made me, and what is amazing is so many other women do too!! She had so much to give! I am broken-hearted at her loss. I am so sorry for the experience that Steve and her precious children are going through. My prayers are with you all. Your wife and mother left no doubt with any of us about how much she loved you; loved being with and doing for you. I am so blessed to have known her. The media of course magnifies the bad when it comes to meeting people on-line. (And if it keeps our kids safer, so be it) but I made a true friend in Clare and I will truly miss her.

Posted - Nov 19 2008 : 12:29:42 PM Even though I never met Clare on the farmgirl connection, like someone said earlier, we farmgirls are still all connected at heart and her passing has touched me deeply. To read all the posts and feel the love that flowed between her and others is inspiring. It's always hard to be left behind when a loved one passes on but I would think it's especially hard around the holiday season. I'll be keeping her family and all of you, especially you, Carol Sue, in my prayers.

Posted - Nov 19 2008 : 05:47:29 AM Even though I never met Clare in person, her bravery and the fineness of her spirit and courage will be part of me for the rest of my life. It was an honor to 'know' her and be a witness to her journey. I grieve for Clare and I pray for strength for her family. It's easy to say that someone was 'one of a kind', but Clare was just that. She really was.

I loved clare she was such a great friend to me we exchanged things with each other often. She sent me ME mags and I sent her a yoyo quilt as just a few of the things that passed between us her presents here on the forum will be greatly missed. Posted - Nov 19 2008 : 04:05:53 AM Hearing about Clare's passing yesterday left me feeling out of sorts and strange. It is funny, you know, we all touch each other's hearts in this forum and come to call each other "friend" and yet most of us have never actually met. But still, when one of us passes or moves on, there is a hole left behind. I never met Clare, even though she was a PA girl like me...but I often thought of her up there in the northeast corner....wondering what yummy quilts she would be working on. It is so good to know that in the end, so many of our farmgirls gave a piece of themselves to her so that she could know that at any given moment, someone had her in their hearts. Rest peacefully, Clare, the fight is over...may you spend your days wrapped in the quilt of God's love.

Posted - Nov 19 2008 : 04:01:42 AM Carol Sue, Thank you for letting us know of Clare's passing into glory. We will surely miss her, she was so loving to all and I know she is no longer suffering from the cancer. Her husband and family we'll be in my prayers as they have to go on without her in this life. She just exuberated the spirit within her and I hope I am a better soul for having had her for a farmgirl friend. I will remember her fondly and cherish the beautiful quilt blocks she made.

Posted - Nov 18 2008 : 7:40:46 PM Carol Sue, Even though I didn't have the good fortune to get to know Clare, thank you for caring enough to let us know of her passing and for wanting to give back to her family. Even if they just got to read these simple posts-they would know how much she meant to so many and how much she was loved. I'll keep them in my prayers and you too! It's very clear she was dear to you and that she will be sorely missed by you.

Posted - Nov 18 2008 : 10:21:13 AM Oh Carol Sue, yes, please do send me her families address that I may send a condolence card. I will put some thoughts together about the lovely quilt blocks that I have from her and will send the thoughts to you later today. With sadness in heart but joy as well to have had the opportunity to e-chat with her and to have some of her blocks in loving memory of her. Think Pink, ladies & lets hope we do not lose another sister, friend, mother, child or neighbor to cancer.

Posted - Nov 18 2008 : 07:38:49 AM Oh, I am so sad and sorry to hear this news - Clare was such an amazing person in the way she lived her life, and the way her life inspired others of us to live ours to the fullest - every moment. I remember her being so positive, even in the midst of insurmountable grief at the prospect of leaving her family...I so admired her and will continue to do just that. Sending prayers and wishes of peace for her family and all who knew her...
XOXO, Libbie
