I need to raise money in a hurry and don't have any to start with. With all of you out there, I'm sure there are lots of fund raising ideas floating around. I need fund raisers that don't cost anything to get going and can be whipped up pretty quick. Nothing is too wild and crazy. So, let the ideas fly!
Oh, I guess a car wash is out of the question as it's freezing here now And I WON'T wear a bikini  So, I suppose there are some limits.

Ann, I've talked to the financial aid office and we/they have done all that's possible. Spring tuition isn't the problem. Things should get better for us next year (I hope). Paying off the fall tuition so she can register for spring is my problem.
DD has applications out and is hoping to land a job soon.

Make sure you follow your state's laws very carefully with a raffle. Sorry, not trying to rain on a parade, but it is a fact nowadays.
I really liked the bake sale idea and the homemade crafts ideas. Perhaps at the dentist's office, you could do a gift basket that does NOT feature sweets (that way he's not a hypocrite) such as your smaller homemade items.
Have you talked to the school's financial aid office? They may be able to help with a student loan of some kind for spring tuition.
Also, does she have any special skills or talents? Maybe she could "hire out" for some extra $$$.
Just some thoughts...

I thought so, Alee. And, of course, the dentist knows me, dd and my baskets and was just tickled to do this for us. He's a cool dentist. We're very lucky to have him here.

Ann, I appreciate the offer, but I really don't want anybody to give up anything other than ideas. Since so many have asked what it's for...I'm trying to raise the balance of dd tuition. It has been a very bad year for us and no matter how I juggle the bills, I simply don't have enough to go around. Everything I've come up with to earn or raise the money has failed so far. She can't register for spring classes until we get the balance paid off and I'm really stressing over the possibility that she'll have to put her education on hold.
We are not a charity, of course, but folks here just love supporting their local kids, especially when it comes to their education. These ideas will help a lot. With times so hard, I want to make sure folks get something for their contribution, or at least a chance for something.
I talked to our local dentist yesterday (who is fairly new here) and he has been getting really busy. He has agreed to let me put one of my baskets on his reception desk and sell raffle tickets for it for me. I have to talk to a few other businesses yet, but it's a start.
Thanks for the ideas, girls. I'll get to work on some of the other ones, too.

A couple of things my church group does for fund raising are pancake breakfasts and speghetti dinners. If you get the supplies at places like Costco you'd be surprised how many people you can feed on a small initial outlay. Another thing to think about is we always offer our goods on a "donation" basis. Some people are much more generous and more than make up for the cheapskates that might indulge.
Our last project was selling gift jars (ie: canning jars filled with dry cake/bread/soup mixes-the recipient then adds the wet ingredients to complete the recipe). We sold about 150 jars and made over $600.00. We've had a couple of bake sales too. Oh and a "soup kitchen"-crock pots of different soups that people can purchase a bowl of.
For our next fund raiser I'm thinking of making a quilt (if I can get some people to help pay for the fabric) for a family leaving for the mission field. Then we'd open it up for anyone making a donation will be able to sign the quilt. That way not only will this family have memories of all the people they've known for years as well as a warm quilt but they've have extra money to boot!

Hey Lisa.. Have you heard of Rabbit Hash KY, where they elect an animal as a mayor?? You PAY a buck for a vote & then the one with the most money wins(kinda how our politics work too). But anyway, how about having people dress up animals in THanksgiving or Christmas garb & have people vote for the best with a buck each. Give a goofy prize(how about a dog apron??) & then donate all the money. |

what about raffling off a few gourd baskets? have folks buy raffle tickets ..of course you can also donate a small percent of the price of each raffle ticket to a charity of choice so that 2 parties win/win with this effort..not just the one doing the fundraiser, but also another cause benefits.

if you crochet or knit how about m king some dish cloths to go along with your baked goods..if you have some pretty ribbon tie it around the dish cloths. And then make cookies too.
what about your homemade bread? try offering that.
Do you bake a mean bundt type cake? you could offer these things at places like the courthouse, bank, and so forth.
what about small bags of spice blend mixes? or jar mixes of things like soup bean mixes?

Can I ask what the fundraising is for? That might help with some suggestions.
If the courthouse is okay with it, how about a honor system bake sale? Bake up some yummies and put up a card table with a pretty table cloth and a box with a slot on it and prices advertised?
If you canned this year, you could offer some of your canned goods.
You could also maybe raffle off some of your aprons or your baskets?
