I have been so forgetful lately, it's kind of scary.

The other night I woke up 2 or 3 times to do things I had forgotten to do. I always get the coffee pot ready the night before b/c I want coffee first thing in the morning. I forgot to do it. So I get up and fix it. Then I forgot to put the soup in the fridge I had made that day. Got back up and did that.

So next morning go to get coffee and it's just hot water! Forgot to put in the coffee.

Did it again the next night, forgot the coffee. Had to go back and put coffee in.

I have forgotten goats in the stanchion several times. I have one that's the last to be milked and is SO slow to finish eating. So I leave her in while I get busy cleaning the milk room or get hay out. I'll go back in to get the milk out of the fridge and there she is.

I've even not known how I got to a certain place while I was driving.

And so many notes! If I do not write a note right away. it's in one ear and out the other that fast. And then forget the notes!

I hope I'm not the only scatter brain out there. Maybe it's because I have so much on my mind at a time.

...I feel for you, Kristen...I have the same stuff going on....I guess I am menopausing..(no period since June....YAY!)..but this part of it is indeed frustrating and scary...I am a puzzler..as in crosswords and anacrostics..I have the hardest time getting words to come to mind...words that i KNOW..but they just won't come...grrr...but I guess puzzling is helping and not hurting as I get older so I keep doing it... I will happily try the Ginko Biloba also...I just hate when important things get away from me...it has started to worry me...Prayers and Hugs to you all....

i JUST HIT THE WRONG BUTTON AND LOST EVERYTHING i JUST WROTE. ^%$#$#$^&**!!! OK and had it on caps lock but I don't care now.

Yes. I am way too busy for my own good lately. I have been working for my friend who had to get her parents to live with them. I work 3 days straight 6 hours thru the day. Not a lot but I also have a friend who is 91 and I take her to the doctor every few weeks and she's been falling lately. As I was going into Kansas City her daughter calls wanting to know where I am. She had fallen and could not get up. Anyway, called my DD who lives a few blocks away. She went and so did EMT's. ANyway, I'm thinking all kinds of things while I'm waiting on a call. But she was ok that time.

But last night Isabelle had a note saying she would be on call and could I be there for the 6-8 slot. I thought she'd be home all day. So I took Mrs. T to get a heart monitor put on today.Went to eat lunch. I found out when I called that Isabelle had been at work all day. They'd been by theirselves all day. I just about cried.

I never would have thought a few months ago that I'd be doing this. It is a lot of stress, esp. thinking something bad could happen and I won't be there to help. How do people do this all the time?

Anyway, I think Isabelle's getting a full time person to stay with her parents that knows more about medical things. And hopefully not a forgetful person.

And on top of all this, my husband has not been home in almost 3 weeks now. They sent him to Phoenix and forgot about him a few days. Then to Tex. then last night was in Kansas. Poor guy. He needs to get home!

I do think I'm menopausing, too. Which is ok, but wish it was done. How long does it last?? This is rediculous. It sure does mess with the head. So I guess I am not the only one in the forgetful club.

Linda, that is my worst fear, alzheimers. I sure hope that's not what you're getting.

The not hearing people is awful. I really think I don't understand what they're saying. Just don't get it. And to not get "on call" is really bad.

How long does Ginko take to start working??

ok..ya convinced me...I'm gonna get sticky note pad and carry them with me all day...lists for what I need to do now and later. Lists are an answer for me...I thought it was me going crazy!

Past menopause for many years now, but sometimes short term memory is problem. I have taken Lamictal for many years....mood stabalizer...and the Dr. says is causes memory loss but I have to take it. It's also an anti seisure med. My diagnosis was dementia...and the internet calls that alzheimers...yuk...
gotta face facts and not get in too much denial or too depressed. Acceptance is the answer for me now.

Kris,
You are not alone. It has got to menopause. I have walked into a room and had no idea why I went in there to start with. When people say something to me, I cannot tell you what they just said. It's driving me crazy!! I will have to try that ginko biloba.

Kristin, I feel for you. I have always been somewhat forgetful but lately, since menopause hit full force, it has gotten MUCH worse. Just terrible forgetfulness and it's messing things up! I've messed up my checkbook 3 times this year. Normal or otherwise, I really hope it rights itself soon. I think I'll try your suggestion, Diana. Can't hurt.

I don't know how "normal" it is, but it's seems popular anyway! lol! I've always been like that, but luckily for now I can use the age excuse.

Kristin, I'm having the same problem. I have to just about write down everything I need to remember. I've always liked making lists so that helps a bit. I think the problem with my memory and my mind wandering has to do with early signs of menopause, I'm at that age. But I've been stressing a lot lately and have a lot of things on my mind too. The worst part about it is I find my mind wandering when people are talking sometimes and I miss out on things I need to hear. Oh, and I do that too when I'm driving, I arrive at a place and don't really remember the drive there.

You are not the only one. The other day I walked up to the counseling office to delver some papers, when I got there I COULD NOT remember why I went up. So I went back down stairs, with the papers still in my hand!
I have been wondering why I have been so forgetful latley too. I think that right now , well for me anyway, having so much on my mind, my economy , the world, the future, money, mortgage, payments, bills , LIFE in general!
If notes help you keep some stickys in your pocket! !LOL

Kris, Welcome to my world.. I find when I get too many things on my plate I do the same thing.. I do make lists and I have found that the older I get the faster I try to go & the behinder I get!So my new goal is to do things more slowly, Not rush and If i don't get to EVERYTHING so be it. It will be there tomorrow.. I do agree though That Coffee Pot Has to be a priority!

Sounds like your life is a little busy?. Seems like I can get like that when I am juggling so many different things. I am learning to slow it down a little bit.

I took a seminar a couple years ago on administration. The gals teaching the class had this big sign in front of the class as we walked in that said "multi tasking is evil"... at first I didnt get it, until she defined as when your multi tasking no one gets your undivided attention.............HMM.. so I try to be present more now.. although, sometimes...... I miss the mark!
