Woo-hoo! I got mine yesterday and devoured it already. Now I have to go back and take my time and really get into every word of it. "That Growling I Hear is My Friend's Stomach," really hit home for me though. How many of us can say we've been there? I really love Miss Wilma's homespun ornaments and the spoon ornament. I can't wait to try the Polenta and the Maple-Pecan Caramel Corn and isn't that apron so pretty?

The postal service beat mine up too, Mary Beth. They bent it in two places(clear across the magazine) and tore it twice! :( But the contents are still as fantastic! :) I love a lot about this issue! Wilma's 'whimsies', the great polenta recipes, and especially the charming homemade ornament instructions. Love, love love the repurposing of those fun old things(metal rollers, spoons, tea ball). And the 'Speak Up!' page was timely, too. The Southern Poverty Law Center is in a big trial in Meade County , KY. starting this week. They are trying to bring a large KKK hate group to it's knees. A young Latino man was brutally attacked by members of this group at a county fair. Thanks, everybody at MJF for a wonderful job!

Suzan... you are right. The Oct/Nov issue is the ladyslipper issue. I couldn't resist, so, I bought it.

Julie, It was the Oct/Nov issue...I thought it said it was the ladyslipper issue but I could be wrong...
ClaireSky Posted - Nov 12 2008 : 11:04:26 AM
Suzan, what issue is it called? was it issue # 7? I was at Borders too and I believe it was the Oct/Nov issue that I saw. But, I don't believe it was the ladyslipper issue. I am going to go back and check. My subscription starts with the Dec/Jan issue.

I bought mine at Tractor Supply the other night. My husband grabbed it from me first thing because of the cover picture of the Santa Lucia celebration. He thought it might be taken in Sweden, as he is from there. But it was taken in a Swedish community here in the States. I haven't read it all the way yet but I think it's my favorite of the ones I've seen. But then again they are all wonderful. I loved seeing Jess' tree (and all the trees from the contest last year) and Miss Wilma's Whimsies (sp). I didn't get the last one because our Tractor Supply ran out. When I had the clerk check for stock he said there was -3. That must have meant people were asking for it after they sold out. I really need to get a subscription, I think I'll treat myself for an early Christmas present.

Hi Julie! The magazine has been around for a few years but just went to subscription this year. I believe this is the 4th issue of the subscription year. There are 6 issues per year.
