http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/11/18/congress.budgetcuts.ap/index.html

These budget cuts mostly affect the poor, students, and FARMERS.

I know "money makes the world go round" but nowhere is it more apparent than in our Congress. I do believe some serious budget cuts are needed to reduce our deficit, but surely there are better ones to pick? I could name a few if they need help thinking of some places where our tax money is wasted.

I know I am on a rant - guess I'm still peeved about the whole organic law thing that changed last month. Even Newsweek had an article about that, explaining how a calf that could have been raised partly on cow's blood could be bought by an organic farm and treated as "organic" from then on. Who even thinks of feeding a baby blood? So disgusting and just plain against nature.

WHERE is an Upton Sinclair when you need him? Someone to point out the practices of our meat and dairy industry to make us once again take a hard look at our breakfast.

I know they snuck this one in on us but where were we all as this was passed? We are the only people to blame, how many people wrote their politicians? I personally sent out 15 letters via snail mail. No one reads e-mail or if they do it is quickly forgotten and deleted.
Now we all need to find out who voted which way and next time, regardless of poltical party, vote them out of office!

As for having 2 kids in college and paying for both of their educations. I do not see any difference in the past 20 years on helping the college student. IN fact regardless of politcial party student funding has always been cut.

In the states with no taxes and almost no funding for education ( Florida and Texas, I lived in each for 5 years) They receive the most amount of help from the state and, at University level is the least expensive. You can still go to the University of Florida for 2,000.00 dollars a year. My daughter waitressed her way through college and could make enough to pay for that. She was also on the honor role and in Florida that cut her tuition.

I now live in New York State, with the highest taxes in the country, and their expenses to the student are much higher. The amount of tax money available has little to do with how expensive college is and benefits to the student.

I'm ranting also but I belive it is the massive complacency (sp) of the American public which has caused the problem.

Money doesn't help people, People help people.
