how do farmgirls 'end their day' .. do you have a 'routine' oh say .. an hour before you hit the bed?

mine is to check e-mails .. get a snack, take a shower, settle in with a good book and my honey hunk. frannie

About an hour before bed, I put the kettle on and make a cup of chamomile tea. I sit and watch a little tv then off to bed by 10:30. I read for only about 10 or 15 minutes and I can't keep my eyes open! I'm up by 7 am. No problem getting out of bed in the morning. I go to bed with the kitchen clean too!

I wash the dishes, clean the kitchen, sweep the floors, feed the dogs (outside... raw is just too gross indoors), check email... then I brush teeth and go to bed around 11. I'm the early riser. I can stay up late - but DH can stay up to midnight or later if he doesn't have to work in the morning. Not me! 6am my eyes spring open whether I want to be awake or not!

I dump the girls in the bathtub, and put them to bed. Then I putter around the house and maybe make a list if the next day is going to be hectic. I putter around some more, shotgun a beer or have a glass of wine or some cold water with lemon depending on whats in the fridge.

Then I pay bills, do my e-mails, check the forum here and then if Hal isn't already in bed I read for a while. and once he gets there or if he already is, we jabber about what we did during the day, or we talk about hopes, dreams or what we would do if he won the lottery.. and one of us usually ends us putting cold feet on the other for fun depending on who got to bed last, We roll around like dogs trying to get confortable trying out 500 ways of laying down when inevitably we always end up spooning (I don't know why we never start out that way, The covers would stay much neater if we did) and then we drift off.

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.

Yup, I feel the same way Jenny. Almost like I didn't do my job or something. There are VERY few times when anything is left in the sink. I can't start to cook breakfast in the morning either until the dishwasher is empty or if I handwashed, those are put away. I clean as I cook and I have to have a place to put the dirty things right away!! DH thinks I'm crazy but I just tell him if he wants to live like an animal then the barn isn't that far away!!

Kristi..I try really hard to leave no dishes in the sink at night too..I HATE that feeling in the morning when you walk into the kitchen and already have work to do from the day before!!
I am a night owl...always the last one still up at night...I always do some sort of handwork and have a cup of herbal tea (except in the summer when I drink just water..can't drink hot stuff on hot days or nights!) and then go to bed and read for about an hour before I finally go to sleep. It is usually at least midnight...sometimes later.

Kinda the same as yours. I watch a little TV with DH and kids, maybe have a glass of wine to relax, take my shower, tuck kids (2 legged and 4 legged) into bed for the night. Then I make sure all dishes are out of the sink. I can't stand to wake up to dishes in the sink. Then off to bed.
