Posted - Nov 13 2005 : 06:27:31 AM Today my beloved baby girl Alex turns 13...a very transitional and turbulant time for a girl...not quite a woman...not a "little girl". I asked her if there was any special way she wanted to celebrate this weekend...sleepover with friends, party at the Teen hangout place, ect...she said "just spend it with my family..." I was stunned. She wants a quiet day with Mom and Dad and grandparents ares stopping by for cake. She has beautiful long straight hair down to her waist and she announced she wants a short cut...I thought this is her way of dealing with this transition...and I am honoring that. ( although to see those long locks I have loved so fall on the floor of a beauty salon will hurt in my gut). How did you cope with the year 13?...how did your daughters and sons cope?

Making a gallant gesture like that will make the transition have even more meaning to her I would think.
you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive. |
