Posted - Sep 26 2008 : 3:26:42 PM My favorite smell is a fire burning on a crisp autumn or winter day. It is nothing short of divine!
And I have to chime in with the horse poop too. It's right up there!

Posted - Sep 25 2008 : 06:00:35 AM What a great topic - I loved reading thru everyone's answers.
I love when you walk thru drifts of fallen leaves and their smell announces that autumn has arrived - yay! I know it's just rotting leaves (how unromantic), but it just smells so fresh and "outsidey". I also love the smell of line-dried laundry, cinnamon, and lilacs. Also, it drives my kids nuts, but I love the smell of books - old and new. Whenever we get a new schoolbook (we're homeschoolers) and we sit down with it, I open it up and bury my nose in it. They always tell me, "Stop smelling books!" I also like the smell of burning leaf piles, and the last smell I like, which is really weird, is the smell of tires. I love to walk thru the bicycle aisle at Walmart - hee hee!

Posted - Sep 23 2008 : 1:10:24 PM I love anything that smells like Grandma's been in the kitchen baking . . . cinnamon, ginger, apples, etc. I also love the smell of coffee, I love the smell of laundry fresh off the clothesline, the smell of a crackling fire, and most any smell that speaks of home and the peacefulness of home!

Posted - Sep 23 2008 : 1:06:14 PM The earthy smell of autumn...all of the musty tannin smells of the leaves and the earth Nutmeg, and ginger and Vanilla, evergreen pitch and old roses...I love the smell of hyacinth and of Easter lilies, woodsmoke and strangely, the smell of tomato plants, even though they are kind of stinky. I'll think of more, I love many scents.

Posted - Sep 23 2008 : 11:59:09 AM I just finished eating my homemade pumpkin pie. I forgot how good that smells cooking in the oven. It really beats buying a store bought pie. I think the smells of each season make my list....from the fresh smells in the spring, smell of summer rains to the fall spices. ![](icons/icon_smile.gif)

Posted - Sep 22 2008 : 2:32:15 PM I love the smell of honeysuckle and lilacs too! Fresh mown hay or grass ranks up there too. Also I love the way our Tractor Supply smells, a mixture of leather, feed, and I don't know what all. I just love the scent when I first walk through the door.

Posted - Sep 22 2008 : 09:14:40 AM I love most of the scents mentioned. But I didn't catch the scent of honeysuckle. If I am walking along in the spring and I catch the scent, I stop dead in my tracks and soak it in. It is my favorite scent.

Posted - Sep 22 2008 : 07:49:33 AM Homey smells: food cooking, cleaning smells, pumpkin spice candles, laundry on the line; Christmas trees, fresh cut wood...The first time I took my sister (who has horses) to NYC overnight we went to Central Park and when we got to the corner by the Plaza Hotel she said "SMELL THAT? It smells so good!!" It was the horses with the carriages... |

Posted - Sep 21 2008 : 9:19:59 PM I love the smell of fresh laundry off the line. With our weather turning cooler soon, that will be forgotten for a few (okay, six) months.
I love the smell of Chanel No. 5. It is my favorite perfume.
I also love the smell of fresh cut lemons.
Lilacs and hyacinths too.
