Got up bright and early this morning to do some last minute packing for OHIO tomorrow! sooooo excited to be going to hug the little darling grandes!

Then .. i headed towards beautiful Bardstown, via the windy, rippling back roads. As i drove around enjoying the slight hint of autumn approaching .. i drove through and past areas that i really didn't even know the NAME of (no SIGNS) ..

i remembered when i first moved here .. i couldn't figure out what 'town' our farm was in. Again .. no SIGNS! i saw where other little towns began and ended.

I asked a new friend, our Clerk of the Court .. she just smiled and said the area where we lived had NO name on the County maps .. it is simply in GREEN COUNTY.

Now .. our MAILING address is Mt. Sherman .. which is several towns over and even in a different COUNTY!

I thought of the last five years i have lived here and realized all the places i had been and adventures i had while visiting them. I realized that my adventures were truly those of my heart and memory .. in FRANNIEVILLE!

Soooo .. from time to time .. i will write more of those adventures .. right here .. in this thread entitled: Frannieville, Kentucky. Come along with me and enjoy those i meet, the places and sites i see .. the adventures i have. AND OH MY YESSSSS! i do indeed want to hear YOUR stories from: YOURVILLE!

HEY GURLFRENZ .. jus' quickly jumpin' in on my different 'bulletin boards' to say a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my dear 'true friends'. Wanted to let everyone know that i met with my Endorinolgist last week .. and she said that HER lab doctor looked at his original 'test results' and those of the 'biopsy' from the hospital .. then he sent them forward to another lab to look closely at ... conclusion:

NO CANCER WAS EVER IN MY THYROID!!! OH HAPPY DAY!!!!

My doc said this is the very first time in her 20 years of practice (she's a diabetes and thyroid specialist) where a report came back positive .. then turned out to be negative! But she said there was absolutely NO 'baddy cells' ever in there!

GOD IS WONDERFUL .. I AM SO VERY BLESSED! I never, ever felt even a 'twinge' of pain before, during or after the operation. HA! my doc said she thinks he even took a coupla' extra tucks cuz' i have NO wrinkles in this 'ole neck of mine! She said next year .. i won't even see the scar! Lordy! wrinkles and scars are simply a testament to our lives .. never bothered me!

Honey Man and i have had wonderous adventures since then .. and have many, many more planned! Lordy! I do love that man of mine!

I don't go to my 'boards' much any more .. have promised me to use all that extra life-time that god has given to make memories with loved ones and dear friends. I do, indeed, hop up here to the computer every day or two to 'write of my adventures' though. Have about 400 gurlfrenz on my TRUE FRIENDS list .. and sure do keep in touch with them via e-mails .. and of course, through my article each issue of Mercantile Gatherings .. ohhhhhhh be sure to watch for the spring issue .. where honey man and i travelled to TEXAS and found wonderful treasures and new friends .. and adventures!

below .. is a little 'letter' i sent out to the gurlfrenz today! Ef'fen you wanna' receive these .. jus' e-mail me! I do hope everyone is having a very happy life.. It is way too short and grande not to! Remember .. be kind to everyone .. look at life as the precious gift it truly is .. do not ever, ever waste one moment in anger, hatred, or grumpiness .. and as little time in 'sadness' in life as you possibly can.

+++++++++++++++++

TO MY TRUE FRIENDS:

howdy gurlfrenz! i've been a little 'remiss' with sendin' messages in the last few days. been real busy with our wonderful Historic Homes Tour here in Greensburg. It was yesterday and was a PHENOMENAL SUCCESS!!!! Our Arts Council actually made a few pennies so we can continue doing awesome things for our community!!!

First, let me say HAPPY NEW YEAR .. hope you all had a happy and safe one and i wish you many blessings and much happiness in 2009. Got ya' all in my 'prayer box' for a safe, happy, healthy year!

I'm gittin' excited about 're-doin' our antiques booth at Glovers Station. That darlin' partner of mine .. miz rita came in and pushed and shoved all day saturday (while i was playing 'hostess' at our historical Jeremiah Abel Cabin in town!) Rita has such a wonderful 'eye' for decoratin' . and she's such a gifted crafter and wonderous friend! Thank you Sweetie Pie!!!!

We had a grande and glorious party-time with the Simmons' and lotsa' friends Up on the Hill .. in Perrysburg to celebrate welcoming 2009! We look forward to lots of fun gatherings with them ... thanks dear friends!

I am loving our BEE BLOG .. i think we have about 30-some of us reading The Secret Life of Bees .. and telling our stories (see our blog below .. come join us!) Love all you gurlfrenz!

O.K. i don't have any photos of our Historic House Tour .. but i'm beggin' some from Joe Jones and Mimi and everyone who took them .. so's i can show you and entice YOU to come move to Green County, KY .. and have fun with us! There were several beautiful homes in various degrees of bringing them back to life. OH MY .. what incredible respect i have for all these wonderful people who love olde homes and are lovingly bringing this 'rennaissance' to our town. Early in the morning .. we, who were hostessing in the various homes .. all got to run around real quick to take a look-see .. then to our 'homes' to meet and greet lots of visitors! Dear Helen Clark and I were the 'mistresses of the Jeremiah Abell Log Cabin ... Rev. Abell was a minister who was a 'circuit riding' preacher .. during the early 1800's here in Green County. He purchased the land this dear olde venerable cabin sits upon in 1796 .. and built the cabin shortly thereafter. I do believe he had a wife and children .. but they never lived here. After about 25 years, he returned to Illinois and a hand-full of years later died there. Actually, little is absolutely known about his life or the humble beginnings of the Cabin. It changed hands 10 times in the course of it's history until the Presbyterian Church purchased it. At that time .. there was an olde white house built around it .. and no one even suspected that there was an early log cabin as it's BONES! It was being torn down to make room for a church parking lot when it was discovered! The rest is and will forever add to the history of this log cabin being preserved!

Bless Joe Jones heart .. he tried all day to get the 'gas fireplace' lit so that helen and i did not turn in to popsicles .. but actually, we were fine. We had dressed in long skirts and warm tops and pretty snuggly 'shawls' .. so we could look 'of the era' .. that helped keep us warm. We were so busy and excited greeting visitors .. meeting new friends and olde and telling the cabin's story .. that we barely even noticed the icicles forming on our noses! (nooooooo .. it was a pretty nice day .. a little grey and drizzly .. yet .. the sun was shining bring in all our hearts because of such a delightful town event!)

Afterwards, everyone gathered at our Olde Courthouse for a fun, festive time .. with the huge fireplace roaring .. now THERE was some HEAT! And more 'yummies' than you could nibble in a lifetime .. and OH MY .. everything was deeeeeeelish! (i, of course, offered up some 'burnt cookies' from my very own kitchen!).

THEN .. Luna, Alan, Hank and I headed off for Lebanon to try out a new restaurant there. The 'ambiance' was fun .. food was 'middlin'. Hank and i made the big mistake of having Maryland Crab Cakes! HA! compared to MARYLAND CRAB CAKES that we have often eaten all the years we lived in Annapolis, they tasted like bed pillows .. filled with bread stuffing ..i'm not sure i even tasted a hint of crab in them! Too bad .. cuz' it is a cute restaurant .. (maybe we were just spoiled by Royer's Cafe in Round Top Texas .. and vittles at our southern friends' homes!!!) We will probably give it another go (NO crabcakes though!) when passing through Lebanon sometime.

Slept t'il NOON today .. and it felt GOOOOOOOOOOD!

Am VERY excited about friends, Mary and Patrick (they used to babysit for our girls in Maryland when they were teeensy-weensy!!!) And they are MOVING TO GREENSBURG in less than a week! OH WHAT FUN WE WILL HAVE!

Two of our 'grandes' have birthdays in January .. amazing to believe that our little Jennie Catherine Angel Fairie will be 22 years old and her baby brother James will be 15! MY GAWD! where does the time go?

I was going to head for 'home' (D.C.) to visit the grandes and rest of the family this month .. but have decided to wait until 'spring has sprung' .. when i am sure there will be no heavy snow/ice storms to keep me from running from D.C. to Maryland to Virginia to Delaware .. and mayhaps a quick trip to Pennsylvania too!

AND . .i sooooooooooo much want to return to Central Texas .. oh my! honey man and i had such a glorious time there last month! The big Antiques Show is there .. and there are several of my 'true friends' who live in the area that i would love to meet up with for cookies and hugs!

And of course, my honey-man leaves for his 'macho' trip to Antarctica in a couple weeks too!

Ohhhhhhhh .. i'm conjuring up some 'fun stuff' for uz gurlz while he is gone!!! I'm thinking an 'antiquin' trip to South Kentucky ... mayhaps even dipping into the top of Tennessee! A dollie class is calling out to be had. Will be offering that to my 'True Friends' gurlfren list only. (ef'fen you aren't already on that .. be sure to e-mail me and let me know you'd like to be .. we have about 400 of us on there now! And ALL are wonderful, happy, optimistic True Friends ... which is so very important in life .. and absolutely in MY life to be surrounded by like-loving people!

Hey . .did ya'll make any New Year's Resolutions? My one and only .. is to reeeeeeeeeeally .. reeeeeeeeeally .. clean/clear/organize all the 'wonderfuls' stored in my 'schoolhouse' .. HA! maybe we'll have a 'gurlfren weekend to help me with that . and you can walk away with lots of fun memories and a few prizes!

Be watchin' my e-mails .. and doooooooo come join me for as many as you can!

Well .. i know this is jus' a teeeensy bit of what i've been doin' in the last few weeks .. but i've made a promise to not spend AS MUCH time on the computer contraption .. gotta' get some 'orphan chiles' created soon!

hugs, frannie

P.S. i must add that some sadness did come into my heart yesterday ... because my precious, precious friend, Kathy Sugarbucket's dear, dear sister passed away and Kathy's heart is broken. Please send special prayers to heaven for angels to surround Kathy at this time and hold her in their arms.

Gurlz

Just want to post a quick note here to tell y'all that I got the report yesterday that Frannie's surgery went well and that she was resting comfortably. Her daughter and Honney Hunk were with her as well as Kathy Sugarbucket. I have been in NJ but keeping track of her from here. If I here any further info before she signs in herself, I will post it here.

Meanwhile ladies, if you haven't seen it, check out the CityFarmGirl blog by Rebekah Teal for a most wonderful interview with Frannie.

Get well soon, Frannie! We miss you!!
