My ya-ya's and I started taking belly dancing lessons--every Tuesday for 12 weeks...and lemme tell y'all...I didn't know that I had muscles in the places I have found them in. Holy Crow!!! But oh how fun!! The girls and I got the hip wraps with the coins and all you can here is the tinkling sound of us all walking around. It's so muscial. I can't wait until we have a full dance going...if they film it for us, I'll post it. That will be closer to Christmas though.

What's really nice about it, is that I am half Armenian, and I was telling my Grandma about what we were doing and she was so proud. She told me that she can remember HER grandmother doing the dances while she was over there visiting, and how beautiful all the women were--no matter their shape and size.

...and of course DH thinks it's nice....the pig....

I think that is a hoot. I've always secretly wanted to learn how to belly dance. After all I always said they'd think I was a goddess over in Turkey, lol, stick thin I'm not!

I love "Shimmy"!!! And the first thing that our instructor covered was how this was a learning experience that matched every body type from thin to thick! I will say this much though...My "twins" are the biggest part of my body...if they would shrink I would actually be a bit more normal--but! they are allllll over the place. Tis fun though!

Samatha,
How awesome~ I have been considering it~ Even tho I too have a (nice covering). But I heard that it was great for those of us alittle "fleshy", to help us find a few more curves, is that not right?

ROFL- Yes I guess that is more of a horsey expression than a human one, isn't it? I also do Namaste Yoga, and while those ladies are beautiful, I can't imagine that being hugged tightly would be very comfortable!

That is so cool Samantha! I would love to do it too, but I fear I don't really have the body type for it. But I do love to watch it, it must be so much fun and great exercise too.

Alee, described by a horsewoman ("nice covering of flesh") very well! Tickled me to pieces reading that. Now that's not a human description you hear very often...

That is so fun, Samantha! I do the "Shimmy" workout on FitTV which is belly dancing! My mom used to teach a Belly Dancing class when I was really little. I remember a little bit of it. It really does get your body stretched out, limber and exercises those core muscles that we all wish were toned!

The thing I love about the Shimmy girls is that they are REAL. They aren't stick thin and bony. They have a nice covering of flesh!
