Some of you may remember the Moluccan Cockatoo who lives at the animal shelter where my dh is the director. Her name is Angel and she has hosted a couple of giveaways in the past. She's been nagging me to do another one. Here's her picture:

Well, last weekend, I found a little gem of an old field guide to the birds of Texas by Roger Tory Peterson. Field guides are a thing dear to my heart. My KY field guides(birds,wildflowers,trees/shrubs, and mammals) sit on a table next to my 'comfy chair'. Here are a few pics of the Texas field guide:

So if you're a bird lovin', nature watchin' Texas farmgirl, sign up here. On Saturday, the 13th.,(probably late in the day-I'm going to an auction at noon until.....) I will write everyone's name on a little piece of paper, put them in one of her food bowls, and let my Angel draw out a name. I'll take a pic of her doing it, just like the other times.

Well, it's been a bumpy week. Hurricane Ike has messed up Louisville and left over half the city without power still. And I fell on my way to exercise and hit both my knees with the force of a dead weight. So I'm moving kind of slowly. And I'm very busy at work. But my dh did have Angel draw a name last weekend. He sent it to me in a file I can't get to go on photobucket. She picked Kate(Quintessential Kate). So Congrats to Kate!!! :D Send me your mailing address and I'll get the book on it's way to you!

Please add my name to the pot. My Ma is a member of the JJ Audubon Society and has done "counting" at her spread in North East Texas for many years.
This would be a treasure to her.
Thanks,
Kate

Oh how cool!! I collect Texas Memorabilia...could you add me please!! Thank you so much for sharing. I once rescued a Cockatoo from the middle of a parking lot...it must have flown away from it's house. We luckily found it's owner but that bird was so sweet. I swear, it pooped on me and then kinda nudged my hand to say it was sorry. I think it was scared. HE HE HE!!!
