i've had this unique antique since COLORADO! i used to keep 'cook books' in it .. but found that i actually rarely went into it to dig them out ... when we 're-vamped' the kitchen .. there was 'no room in the inn' for it! put it on the back porch thinking i'd SADLY take it to Glovers' Station to sell. funny .. but honey-hunk reeeeeeeeeeeely didn't want me to sell it .. it's been with us almost as long as we've been together. (he's nostalgic like that .. he's a KEEPER!)

anyhoo .. after putting our olde step back cupboard against the stone wall .. i looked and looked and measured and measured .. and finally decided that mayhaps i might be able to squeeeeeeeeeze it in this little spot under the window.

WE LOVE IT! so happy i did. not sure jus' yet what i will keep in each little cubby .. but i'm sure i'll come up with sumpthin'!

it just looks so perfect with all the other kitchen furniture. xo

actually .. it would indeed make a great bin for taters and on-yons!

the one that i saw years ago .. that made me want one of these .. was smaller (one shelf of about 4 or 6 cubbies) .. they had STRAW in them .. had cookbooks in there.

ha! mouse city here at the farm! (or good grief .. worse yet .. little "JAKE-lets" might take up residence!)

it might be great storage for jars of canned goods .. jams and such .. ha! i'd probably have to LABEL them to remember what is in there.

i think it was tina who e-mailed me and suggested my seasonal 'table linens'. all great ideas! xo

ha! .. they'd all grow TAILS before i remembered they were in there! it's not that it's deep .. but you have to twist and turn books to get them out of there because of the small front openings.

when you kids get here .. you can play with it and help me! xo

Oh Frannie that is Really Neat!! Maybe you could put potatoes, onions, etc. If it is toooo deep maybe you could add a few dividers??? Actually....maybe should just let you figure it out, cause I am sure you will come up with GREAT IDEAS!!! Fill us in when you decide!

thanks gurlfrenz .. no katie .. the top is stationary .. the wood strips in front 'flop down' .. for a 'perch' i suppose . . then you can flip them back up .. i guess to keep critters away from the hens .. or to keep them in to make them sit on the eggs?

we had arcauna chickens in colorado .. but nothing this fancy for them! xo

Does the the top swing upwards? I'm having a flashback to my egg gathering days. I'd for SURE keep it -- and you'll figure out just what should go into those cubbies. It's so neat.
