Posted - Sep 05 2008 : 6:03:58 PM well .. gurlz .. i didn't like the GREEN beans with the RED beets .. soooo .. i only strung the beans .. and jus' HUNG the beets .. gonna' find me some of those wunnerful RED beans and THEN add the beet! HA! as long as they don't ROT before then!

Posted - Sep 06 2008 : 05:29:48 AM Frannie, purple hull peas are real long and the outside is a dark purple. It will stain your fingers purple when you sit and shell them. They are so very yummy! I think they would look very nice with little red beets! Although, I agree with the ladies above. Those green beans do look very autumn like with you doll quilt. :)

Posted - Sep 06 2008 : 04:24:56 AM katie darlin' .. i've also seen them in 'strings' .. smaller ones .. so that once they are DRY .. in the wintertime .. you can just pull them offa' the string and use them in your cooking pot!
i want to get some of the smaller, darker beets for stringing too!

brenda . i don't know if they are called 'hull peas' .. they are long jus' like the string beans and kinda' variagated. when i finally do find them .. i'll ask what they are. are the hull peas long or short .. skinny or fat?
