as a kid.

My always was Barbie, playing "fort" outside or just making tree houses in my secret spots in the yard and taking my cat and my books out there, exploring the woods and playing board games. I also loved to swim.

I was in love with my Strawberry Shortcake collection. I would make sure that they were always clean and put together and each one had a place of their own. And my Teddy...I still have Teddy; he plays the song "Teddy Bear's Picnic." But most of the time we were outside, catching fire flies, playing hide and go seek, or kick ball.

Oh to be a kid again...

Linda, I didn't know that anyone in the world but me ever tried to dig to China with a spoon!! Believe it or not, I thought about that just the other day while digging up (can't remember what) in the garden. I also played school. Loved school and "played" school often. My brother and I played "cars". We made roads and towns with streets and all kinds of places with nothing but a hoe and outlined areas with rocks. I liked riding my horse and swimming in the pond. On summer nights, when we had company (folks from town), us kids would walk over to the cematery (about a mile) and play hide and seek. Scare them town kids to death. LOL

I loved my bike! I would play make up games like delivery person or bus driver while riding. I used to be able to do some sweet jumps and tricks on it. I loved my Barbie dolls too, but I was more a tomboy than anything else. I loved being outside, playing with my pets, or just rambling through the woods. I played school too, but as an only child I really had to use my imagination for the students. hehe

I loved playing school with my sister and I was always the teacher.

Sis and I were always together and played outside a lot, make mud pies, try to dig to China with table spoons. Had all kinds of animals to play with, raccoons, skunk, even a squirrel monkey and lots of dogs through out growing up.

We liked to go fishing and would come up with games to play by the camp when not fishing.

Kick the can, hide and seek, forts, treehouse. Badminton, jacks and jump rope. We had fun playin in the durt. I wouldn't trade my childhood games for what the kids have now to be intertained with.

Great thread, brings us all back a few years when things were simple, yet can still be done in todays world.

oh .. two of my most favorite toys that i remember from childhood were my 'tiny tears doll' (i actually found her little 'head' in my nannie's attic (the rest of her poor body had rotted away from the heat and she had a few 'mouse chews' on her too.

and i always wanted a microscope set .. finally got one for christmas .. but strange .. i don't much remember playing with it.

i loved 'paper dolls' .. we used to carefully cut them out and stored them in olde department store gift boxes. oh . what i would give to still have those!

i loved creating 'fashion' designs from the black and white illustrations in the newspaper.

i loved playing outside with the other kids ... so many fun games .. tag .. kick the can .. red rover red rover .. hide and go seek ..

I always loved playing with my Breyer horses, imagining I was the horses, that I owned the horses...you name it. I was even a bookworm back then so reading was high on the list. I also loved running around the woods in the mountains, swimming, and anything to do with animals.

My favorite toys were my easy bake oven, Liddle Kiddle dolls, paint by numbers or any other art kits, books, but I was also a huge tomboy and loved camping, fishing, climbing trees, playing on tire swings, playing kickball, hide n seek, and any other activity that kept me outdoors.
