get their teeth cleaned? I know...I am crazy but after wearing braces for almost 2 years, it feels good to get into those nooks and crannies. And I am pearly clean.

I like to get my teeth cleaned. Since I got a Braun spin toothbrush, there's not much for them to do--so my teeth are not sore the next day.

Frannie--I did the whitening thing at a local dentist office. They said that my teeth could be sensitive for a couple of days, but they weren't. I have done the whitening strips off and on since then to just keep them white.

YES!!! hank and i both go every three months .. insurance pays for two cleanings .. we pick up the tab on the other two times .. but we jus' love clean teeth! i've been thinking of doin' the 'whitening' thing too! anyone done that? i would only do it THROUGH my dentist though ... not so sure about the over-the-counter projects .. i've heard some horror stories. what is YOUR experience?

I did just take a Naprosyn. My teeth usually hurt for about 2 days after an adjustment but when they finally settle, it is like heaven to me!! AHHHHHHHH!!!

I have been taking some extra Vitamin C, to ramp up for substituting, and I just read that it can help with mouth pain issues. So, we shall see.

I can't say I love too but It doesn't bother me to go. I have a high tolerance for pain and it doesn't bother me to go to the dentist either. I have had my teeth drilled before not using any drugs. It just doesn't seem necessary for 5 minutes of drilling to have my mouth frozen for a couple of hours. but then again it probably has been 20 years that I have had to do anything to my teeth besides getting them cleaned so it has been a while. I am not so sure I would be so brave at my age now!!!! hehehehehe Beverley with the extra E

Heather,

I don't think it's weird! But it's all a matter of perspective. I too didn't have much dental care as a kid-my mom was a single parent and what we ate was more important than the choppers that did the eating. As an adult-and a new bride of only 6 months, I had to go in for oral surgery and then I had braces for 2-1/2 years. In that time period, I also had to have another operation to surgically break my jaw to complete the work needed to straighten my teeth. All this to say that after 23 years-my teeth are still straight and believe me, I really try to take good care of my teeth. They're too important after all I went through to get them healthy! And besides it was a good object lesson for hubby-he says if he ever has to get another wife-he'll check her teeth first, forget about her bank account!

I get 2 free cleanings each year through military dental plans, so I got my second free one for 2008 and then the fiscal year starts the end of October, so it all works out. I am really trying to keep my teeth in good shape so I can get my braces off sooner. I can't wait!! I just want to bite an apple again.

Okay...NO I don't like to get my teeth cleaned at all!! Haha! I still have it done every 6 months and rarely have cavities..none in the last 3 years..BUT..I don't like it. It hurts like heck for me..I have a high tolerance for pain but my teeth are really tight next to each other. I do like how it feels the next day though. Some dentists (well, the hygenists really) are really rougher than others for sure. I actually don't mind it as much where I go now..to our little local family dentist office...but some have been Brutal like Sherri said..ugh!
That is very good that you like to get your teeth cleaned...both of my girls like it too..and I am glad..they are more likely to not put off dental checkups that way!! I get all the kids and I in to the dentist every 6 months..it sure pays off!!No cavities for the 5 of us for quite some time. My husband..now THAT is another story all together..haha.

I used to, but my dh's union changed dental plans and I went to the new "dentist" that is now covered. Oh, my, gosh - it was BRUTAL!!! I will NEVER go back there again. I will gladly pay someone else to clean my teeth, but I'm never going back to that place again!!!

I don't think it's weird at all to like to have your teeth cleaned...I like it, too! But my dentist's office has a spa-like atmosphere, and while that is a plus in my book, my husband doesn't like it so much.

My mouth hurts right now because not only did I have a cleaning but then they adjusted my braces but they look so much better and I can really see the change now in my teeth. I was really worried about those back teeth because they are hard to get to. I have a double chain?? going on back there and my mouth is already crowded. The put heavier duty wires in to get my teeth moving back, so I am excited.

I guess it is because I was never taken as a child that I enjoy it now..weird I know!!! HA!! But that is me...

oooh I love it. the dentist told me I am especially good at tolerating mouth pain. I feel bad for those with sensitive mouths. I would hate to dread cleaning, like DH does.

I love to get my teeth cleaned, but of course that is because I worked in the dental field for 21 years! :O) And Heather, you asked...yes, I could give you an adjustment if...I had the right tools. :O) I can't begin to tell you how many "wire changes" I did over the course of my career. I wish I had a dollar for every one! LOL!
