i would have to say a winery in Provence, France. i remember a hillside that was lavendar (it was breathtakingly beautiful!) .. and walking through the rows of grapevines picking grapes from the vines and eating them. we were guests at the winery's owners' home .. it was so oppulent! they had 'servants' .. like in the olde time movies! and we were served wine that is usually reserved for KINGS! (tasted about the same as 'old ripple' to me!) but then .. i can't tell the difference between margarine and butter .. coke and pepsi!

Posted - Aug 27 2008 : 08:34:36 AM Lavenham, Suffolk, England. The charm exudes from every turn. Wonky buildings, wonky roads, cute shops, friendly people. I was in heaven when I was there! It was like stepping back in time and viewing life from an entirely different perspective. (And a crooked one at that!)

Posted - Aug 27 2008 : 05:43:04 AM A bed and breakfast over in Garden Valley, which is just on the other side of the county (an hour drive). One of our court clerks who works in the Annex over there had a b&b (she closed it because it got to be too much for her) and we spent a few of our anniversaries there. It was always late when we would get there because we would leave after work on Friday and spend the weekend. She always had wine and cheese, crackers and fruit sitting out on her beautiful patio with candles lit all over the place and tickets to the outdoor theater for the next night for us. Her rooms were all so beautifully decorated and the bedding was so heavenly, you just didn't want to get out of it in the morning. Her breakfasts were "all you could eat" and oh, my! could she cook! Incredible food like I never had before or since.
The next day we would go rafting and then after changing into dry clothes, go to the Starlight Theater where they put on some of the greatest plays with absolutely wonderful actors and actresses. It was such a good time, we so loved going. I really miss her b&b. We haven't been to the theater since she closed it. It's such a long drive back when the play ends around 11:30pm that we haven't gone at all in the past couple years.
