hi gurlz ... we're back from a whirlwind 'birthday celebration' trip to toledo! took two little dudes that lucas met when he visited us here in kentucky earlier this year.
Hunter (almost 7) and Landon (almost 6) were Lucas' most favorite present! he turned SEVEN! they had such fun together .. and never even once squabbled! these little guys get along so well it is such a pleasure to be around them all the time!
we arrived thursday night (lucas was still awake waiting for us!) they laughed and talked well into the night (sleeping in their sleeping bags on the floor at the base of a King Size Bed! they started out in the bed but wanted to 'camp out'!
early Friday morning .. Frank and Hank decided it would be fun since the olympics was happening to have their very own Kidz Olympics!
no winning and losing or scoring .. EVERYONE was GOLD medal winner .. including (almost twenty three month old) SOFIA who was right int he middle of all the action having as much fun as the 'boyz'!
the all day events included:
(with a fun lunch break at Steak and Shake .. where Lucas was treated to a 'birthday song' and ice cream brownies for dessert)
we think sofia got more brownie up her nose than she did in her mouth!
afterwards .. the afternoon was spent in more sports:
the boyz get ready for the 'big race' ...
and sofia makes a quick 'pit stop'!
The olymPics directors decide to surprize them with a 'gold medal' presentation on our last morning of our visit ...
oh what fun and sweet memories!

thanks miz audrey ... t'was indeed fun .. last night i woke up at about 3 a.m. LAUGHING out loud .. hank asked me if i was having a dream .. i told him .. no .. that i was just remembering SOFIA standing there so proudly waiting for her 'medal' .. and the BLISSFUL loud laugh she gave when it was her 'kodak' moment to show off her new medal!
i swear .. she is such a hoot with that little almost bald head .. with just the fuzzy blonde duck feathers on top! she's keeping true to tradition . .her own mom (my little wednesday) didn't have much hair evne starting to grow .. until she turned two (which for sofia .. is NEXT MONTH! her doc tells wednesday not to worry .. someday .. she will have lots of yellow ringlets!

OHHHHH Frannie! .... Memories Forever!!!! .... I love this! What Fun for you, for the grandkids, for the Big kids!!!!....just pure and simple FUN!!!

GOLD MEDAL TIME!!!
monday morning . and we all went to a FUN restaurant for 'brunch' before we headed south with Hunter and Landon.
after lunch .. we went outside to the picnic tables and had our Olympic Gold Medal Presentation.
if i live forever .. i will never forget their glee at the 'ceremony' we created for them .. and SOFIA .. i do believe was the 'proudest'!!! (we had been watching the olympics off and on all weekend .. so by now .. she was pretty used to the 'ceremony'. HA! one night .. the boys were all playing upstairs and it was well past sofia's bedtime ... but she and i were sitting on the sofa and watching the olympics and eating oreo cookies.
wednesday came in and since a commercial was on .. started clicking around to see what else might be on ... she put her cookie down jus long enough to put her hands on her hips and admonish her mommy:
'LIMPICS' MOMMIE!!!!!

HUNTER .. a proud Olympic Kids gold medalist!
it is obvious that lucas has been paying close attention to the 'stance' the medalist winners take when receiving their GOLD!
profound pride in accomplishment!
(i think the mom and dad and grand mom and dad were as proud as the kids were!)
and oh yes! not yet two .. but sofia felt 'the pride and honor' too!
as witnessed this week .. these little ones also loved the friendship and fun that went along with glory .. sofia looks on proudly!
.. and all this is a 'good pride' in one's self .. working hard to achieve a goal!

ohh . i did have to laugh inside cuz' wednesday and frank 'text-messaged' each other all during the movie .. this is the FIRST time wednesday has left her little iszabel for two hours straight since she was born on june 8th.

sunday evening .. hank, frank, the boyz and the two 'little gurlz' all stayed home and had a picnic dinner and fun 'outside' playing .. while, wednesday, her mother in love (law) and i went to see .. what else! MAMA MIA!
I reeeeeeeeeely wanted to see this sweet movie with my dear daughter! we laughed and cried! such a dear time together!

sunday morning .. church and then frank, wednesday and the kids went to a new family member christening .. while i took hunter and landon for some fun 'toy shopping' .. and to pick up baloons and more fun things for the party!
'the women folk' arrive a little early at "HEROES" to set up a fun OHIO STATE FOOTBALL TEAM 'theme' to Lucas' party! it was so cute .. everyone came in Ohio State shirts and colors!
HEROES is a really fun 'party place' for kids .. they have those HUGE inflated 'bouncy' toys where the kids just went WILD! they played games and won prizes (everyone was a winner) .. then we went to the 'party room' where everyone had pizza and birthday cake and Lucas opened his gifts.
LOTS of aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, god-parents, grandparents and great grandparents joined all the 'little kids' for the fun!
the party room was retro-fifties with an OHIO STATE touch!
GO! BUCKEYES!!!!
Lucas' BIRTHDAY cake! (or .. 'happy cake' as sofia calls it!)
lucas got so many wonderfully fun presents from his friends and family .. but we suspicion his fav was his new "REAL" .. "Fender" 3/4 size electric guitar in .. what else .. OHIO STATE colors! (he also received 'guitar lessons' as a gift).
a wonderfully fun party .. and NO CLEAN-UP afterwards! he has always had his birthday parties 'at home' .. and wednesday just wanted to 'splurge' on his seventh!
he is such a genuinely sweet and kind little guy! thoughtful .. respectful .. directed .. and he ADORES his two little sisters!
he surely holds tight to my heart!

saturday morning .. and the boyz headed for Michigan with Hank and Frank .. to check out the University .. and to have 'boy fun time' ... got home in time for a quick steak and shrimp on the 'barb-y' .. then they boyz went to see the new Star Wars animated movie while the gurlz stayed home and finished wrapping gifts and putting together 'goodie bags' for all the kids coming to the party tomorrow!
