Posted - Aug 16 2008 : 11:39:42 AM We were at a local festival last night and the shops were also open. I got this little gem for $2! It's a vintage Princess brand sewing basket from the 1950's.

Posted - Aug 16 2008 : 1:01:54 PM Your timing was perfect! It's hard to believe someone else hadn't snapped it up. We're thinking of going tomorrow. (After I posted I realized JdF was last weekend, and this was FLH. I just came back in to correct it but you're too quick for me!)
It's been 15 years at least since I've been there. For my first birthday that Robbie and I celebrated together, he gave me a certificate "to take your sweetie to the craft fair of your choice" - he knew how much I loved them. So I intended to take him for FLH. That was 14 years ago. It may finally happen - thanks to you, my dear!

Posted - Aug 16 2008 : 12:10:29 PM Karen-Yes it's Festival Of The Little Hills weekend this weekend. Just a suggestion, if you do decide to go, it's lots easier catching the shuttle bus than trying to drive and then find a parking spot. Lots of the streets are blocked off, so that makes it more difficult to navigate by car.
The weather is absolutely perfect, so you can imagine how large the crowds were last night for the opening night! But it was a lot of fun to walk around all of the booths and feel the cool breeze off the river and when it was dark there was a beautiful full moon in the sky.

Posted - Aug 16 2008 : 12:00:20 PM What a score, Diane! And it's in great condition. What festival were you at? Oh, no, it's Jour-De-Fete time, isn't it? I haven't been there in years but just maybe tomorrow..........(crossing my fingers but not counting on it.)
That basket is so-o-o-o similar to my grandma's. Hers is pink with the same basket weave, but is round instead of square, has flowers instead of sewing notions and a knob instead of string handles. Yours is in great condition. The band at the top of the basket on mine has let loose. If anyone knows of someone who does basket weaving that could fix it, please let me know.
