my DD.

We are still recouperating from our county fair which ended this past Sunday, but boy did we have a great and exciting time. DD showed her market lamb in 4-H and 2 ewe lambs in the unregistered breeding sheep division. She won her weight class with her market lamb, which qualified her to compete for 4-H Champion lamb - which she won. That, in turn, qualified her to compete for Grand Champion Market Lamb against FFA and Grange. She was sooooo excited when she won Grand. And that set the tone for the rest of the week. Later she place 1st and 2nd with her ewe lambs, won Champion Unregistered Ewe and then won Supreme Champion Ewe over the Registered Champion Ewe.

She placed 1st in Senior Showmanship on Saturday. Then all the 1st place showmen compete in a Master Showmanship Class where each showman has to show each species in the junior livestock show - i.e. hogs, steers, market goats, dairy goats, etc.

This is not her favorite competition because the steers are huge, the hogs are unruley and DD, at 15, barely weights 100 pounds dripping wet. We never have any expectations about this class we just hope she never is embarassed. We held our breath as they announced the awards - 6th place, not her; 5th place, not her; we thought 4th, but they didn't call her name, then we all started laughing; 3rd place not her - OMG could she/did she really pull this off? We didn't even hear who won 2nd because it wasn't her and our club went crazy, screaming and clapping and jumping up and down. We couldn't believe it. DD had come to the fair with a goal to win it all and she did just that!

When everything was said and done, she won 3 silver belt buckles, and and armload of ribbions and banners.

Now she qualifies to show in the Master Showmanship class at the 2009 CA State Fair. She was over the moon excited with the whole week.

Thanks for letting mom brag
