The other day I went to the farmers market to get my yearly fix of muscadine grapes. While there the market gal who runs that particular area commented that she liked my tote bag (I carry my own bags for everything now). I said "thanks" and left. Today we went back for MORE grapes and this time I had a surprise. I had the tote she liked and had put a small loaf of my freshbaked bread, a MJ bumper sticker and a farmgirl card inside. ON the back of the card I wrote the link to my farmgirl chapter blog, my name and "nice to meet you". She didn't look into the bag until I was back in the van, but when she did she smiled big and gave me a big ole' wave. I think it really made her day, atleast I hope it did and I had pleasure in the giving "just because"....maybe next time I'll give her a farmgirl hug!

That was a wonderful thing to do, Paige. And you should "toot your own horn" on here, so we can all be inspired to follow suit. That was a great way to introduce someone to the farm girl way.

I've been thinking a lot about gifts lately; why do we give them, what do we expect in return (thanks, a smile, etc). I decided that I WANT to give just because I want to give, not because it makes me feel good, but because I like that person and want to do something nice for them. Having said all that, obviously I'm not there yet, for if I were I wouldn't have "tooted my own horn" here. So I'm a work in progress. Aren't we all?:)

Paige that was so nice of you to do. Doesn't it just make you feel excited and happy to do something like that? I love that feeling!
