oh samantha . i'm so sorry your little one (and you) had to go through all that. when kristen was a little girl .. she sat down on a red ANT hill .. and i went through much the same ! oh lordy .. then there was the time she ran into the house followed by YELLOW JACKETS .. i grabbed her .. we ran .. no ... FLEW into the bathroom .. i slammed the door shut and we both jumped into the shower. i was really glad she didn't become 'alergic' to stings from it.

my friend kathy told me that as a young child .. she was stung by several wasps or bees and had to start carrying some sort of pre-epi-pen around with her. she believes she has outgrown it though.

could the hospital tell from the sting or bite hole what they thought it was?

I had plans for today, but awoke to a sad, sad baby girl. Ended up in the ER--yesterday she was bitten/stung, we're just not sure which one. I thought that I had it under control with Big Ben and Tylenol, but it apparently wore off over night and her had was swollen nearly double its size! They had to give her a prednisone shot with oral follow up. She is better already, and she took her shot like a champ. So, now I am home! Thinking about tackling my DS room...not sure though...kinda scared of the rubble....

Not getting anything done today. The plan was to work outside. Woke up early and thought I get ahead of the heat. Before daylight, it started raining. has rained off and on for a couple of hours. That means that I have to work inside. Yuk. The utility room and kitchen really needs some attention with all the canning that I have been doing. But then maybe not.

Diana, good luck with the yarn shop. Wish we were closer. I could use a lesson or two. I hadn't knitted for years until last winter I decided to knit a really long scarf like they wear on tv. By the time I got it finished, spring was here. I hope it's still in style next winter. Like that would make a difference. I am still wearing 50's style. Jeans and a t-shirt.

Well, I thought today was just going to be an ordinary day, but something possibly very exciting might be happening! A dear friend who owns my local yarn shop had decided to close down shop because her hubby had a heart attack recently and she wanted to be home to make sure he takes care of himself.

Well, late yesterday afternoon I went up there to sit n knit with all the gals there, and the conversation of course turned to the topic of how everyone was going to be so sad when the shop was gone. Anyway, long story short...I'm meeting with her and her hubby today to discuss buying the shop! She said that she'd be happy to work a couple days a week and teach classes, and one of the other gals(who is an incredibly talented expert knitter) also said she'd be happy to teach classes also. They both said they'd be willing to do this not for a paycheck but for yarn!

Sooo, say some of those wonderful farmgirl prayers that the numbers are favorable for me to afford to buy it and make a profit!

Morning Ladies!

DH has his Dr's appt today, first x-ray his knee in the hosp. then across the street to the Doc's where they can see the results and discuss what's to be done. We sure are lucky that the DR's is close to the Hosp. and that they can send the x-rays right over.

I'm not doing alot today since DH is home till he leaves for the Hosp. I'll be going thru the school lists and organizing my desk. Laundry and we need to cut son's hair again, DH cuts his hair so we don't spend money at the barbers..Highand Tights look so cute on the little guy!

Enjoy your Thurs. ya'll!

joy .. community help can be so time consuming .. but oh so rewarding too as i know you know. when i first moved to kentucky (hank was still in maryland t'il our home sold) .. i joined EVERY organization here .. (well except for some 'coon-eatin' club!!! i swear .. there is a sign for one down the road from us!) i even joined EVERY home-maker's club .. it was great then cuz' i was here alone. when honey hunk arrived .. all my home-maker's clubs, garden club, historical society went by the by so i would have more fun playin' time with him! i'm still very activie in the community .. but have indeed learned that sometimes i have to jus' let them know that i'm headin' up the road to ohio to visit the grandes! xo

hey .. will you be going to the heritage crafts classes at Jabez this autumn? i've taught dolly making there for the last few years .. but won't be able to attend this year. xo i 'think' it is in green county next year .. sooo .. i'll be very involved! xo

Well, my Thursday will be just so much fun! My cousin from Michigan and my cousin from Boston are both in Chicago for a few days. They will take the commuter train north and I'll pick them up . . . then we're off to the Chicago Botanic Garden for a leisurely stroll and lots of talking and visiting and seeing the gorgeous gardens. We'll hopscotch back toward the city, shopping both at antique/thrift stores and at retail boutiques . . . I'm so looking forward to being together again! We were very close growing up and now can only get together about once a year.

Everyone have a great day.

Rene -- have a great time with your sons!

Well it isnt quit Thursday here yet, but I am afraid to look at it as my "to DO list" is getting longer by the minute. My Son is coming home friday (he is in the Marine Corp) and is stationed in Yuma, AZ.. I havent seen him since Dec. SO I cannot wait. Trying to sneak minutes away to cook some of his favorites to have them for him and polish his bedroom etc. And with the start of school sneaking up on us, I am trying to squeeze every minute of "fun" with the two boys that are still home.. I also have about 6 merit badges that I am working on.. and they are all calling my name~ and somehow I need to fit that in between work, and garden and canning and farmers market and house keeping and hubby! well you all know the drill.. not to mention family reunion and my nieces babyshower~ but it will all wait until tomorrow.. for now I am going to find my pillow!

Today isn't too very busy...this has been a quiet week..which is nice..next week looks to get busy and the following will be crazy busy. The kids and I have been working on things for the fair now.
Tomorrow I will help withe the carpool to the next town for daughter's high school soccer team practice. (7 miles each way) I will likely be the one to pick up and someone else will drive them there.
I have cubscouts tomorrow afternoon. We are doing a field trip up to the temple greenhouse and the head gardener..my husband's boss...will be showing the boys all the different types of trees on the grounds and talking about them..that will be nice. He is such a nice man and will make it fun for the boys. Daughter has a service project painting rails and fences with her youth city council group in the later afternoon and the three younger will be going swimming...so I may get just an hour or so of quiet ..just maybe.
I NEED to spend time out in the garden...weeding!!

Well...I don't really have any major plans for today...what a surprise! I think I am going to work for my dad by organizing and filing his papers and documents and such...they really need it!

Yesterday (Wed) on the other hand, was so busy! I started the day by waking up early and driving my boyfriend to work. I then drove to my mom's house. We left in my car and drove to downtown Seattle. We went to a most lovely antique store by Pike Place Market! It was great! We were browsing the wonderful things for hours!! I purchased some wonderful vinatage buttons for only $4!! Then we walked through Pike Place Market because it has been a long time since I have done that. We bought a lunch of delicious hombows across the street from the market (our tradition). We then walked through the rest of the market looking at the wonderful stands and fun people.

After driving back to my mom's house I spent some time with my sisters and mom. I got a car ticket because my tabs are expired...I had no idea. I picked up my boyfriend from work and drove him to his friend's house.

I waited for my sister to get home from her tutoring and drove us to our local church to finish helping set up for their vacation bible school. It was great! Their theme is a farm theme. My sister and I created a mural in the dining room complete with rolling countryside hills, a vegetable garden, trees and a berry bush. A friend made a red barn. It's really nice looking! I even made corn stalks in the garden!! All out of paper and papertype material!!

It was a very long day and tiring as well but I had a lot of fun! I hope you all have a great day!!!
