Most cultures that are based in warmer climates have an afternoon nap. The idea is to sleep away the heat of the day and do your work in the morning or early evening hours while it is still light, but not baking.

Today I took a nap while Nora napped. It was great! I feel wonderful! Now I feel like I have the energy and stamina for the rest of the day!

I usually don't nap, but today I was really tired. I forgot to take my vitamins and also worked really hard yesterday getting the house spic and span. Sometimes even a 10 minute nap can give me quite a re-charge.

Isn't it funny how all our bodies run at different tempos?

I love my naps - when it is so I am up very early to get outside work done and then it is at the computer with lunch. after another hour of work NAPTIME.... Once up back to work with the fiber till the sun goes down and back out to feed the animals. It is a great life.....

I feel exactly the same way Brenda - if I take a nap I feel just awful when I wake up - like I've been drugged or something. I also just go until I can't go anymore, then I sleep like a log.

For some odd reason, naps don't like me. :( I have tried to take short cat naps and naps that last an hour. I feel very drained and exhausted when I wake up. So, I just go and go until I collapse in a big heap in my bed at night.

What a coincidence! Robbie was just saying, "I don't know how your family dealt with heat like this when you didnt' have air conditioning." I said, "We took naps!"

God bless -

Hi Alee! I love naps as well...when I was in Mexico this summer, I took a nap every day because I was just so tired when I came home from school. Heat really does take a lot out of you.

Lisa...I didn't take a nap but after reading your post I wanted to! LOL! You are a WORKER GIRL! Take care of yourself and don't overdo it! I hear naps are heakthy but I can't take one unless I've been up all night or something otherwise...no napping for me either.

What is a nap??
No time here for any siestas
Started at 6:30, fed animals, forked goat barn, cleaned chicekn coop, sat at computer for 5 hrs to write 2 appraisals, then drove from 1 until 6:30 to see 3 more properties(total of 175 miles),stopped at gorcery, post office & then came home, took laundry off line, folded, answered business emails, started dinner, and am helping hubby replace some rear siding.
Power to those that can nap!!
Maybe someday!

I love naps but rarely take em in the summer! I save those for the school year when I'm dog tired after a day of teaching! The summer is MY time and I hate to "waste" any of it!
