Posted - Oct 28 2005 : 07:04:33 AM Definitely cooking. My grandfather was a master baker from Bavaria and my grandmother was a cook for wealthy families in Albany, NY in the 1920's. They started a restaurant together and it ran for over 50 years, I ran it for 9 of them. Every holiday revolves around food in my family, it scares my sister in laws. I have to start cooking over a week ahead of time. |

Posted - Oct 25 2005 : 11:21:13 AM I love BOTH, but if I had to choose, I would pick sewing. If I make a quilt, it will maybe keep my great granchildren warm..it will be a vital and useful thing for many, many years..if I cook a wonderful meal ... it will nourish and sustain...but then...well let's face it..that meal isn't going be put in any museum..it going to go "south" if you know what I mean! |

Posted - Oct 25 2005 : 10:33:24 AM I think sewing..most days anyhow..but I would hate to not be able to cook either. I can get more lost in sewing..and thats fun.

Posted - Oct 25 2005 : 10:09:57 AM That's too hard to decide, so sometimes I do both. I put a loaf of bread in the machine and put on a canner of soup or a roast in the oven. Then I retreat to my sewing room and work on a project. It is just heavenly, I feel like I'm doing all that I should be doing to make my house a home. I know I am usually never short for words, but it's hard to describe just how that makes me feel - it's more than wonderful. Just writing about it now, makes me want to shut down my work station and leave the office. There's nothing better for me - well maybe if the grandbabies were over it would be, but then I wouldn't be sewing. It's all good!
Have a splendid day doing whatever your heart desires using your God-given gifts; your heart will swell with joy and you will be comforted with His peace.
In His hands, Lynda

Posted - Oct 25 2005 : 03:06:06 AM Cooking - because it makes the house smell so good! However, becoming involved in this site has rekindled my interest in sewing - maybe that's why I haven't been able to sell my 20 year old sewing machine in any of our garage sales! |

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive. |
