Ok..I got your attention but I have a little plan to enhance my "neked" self on this emotional journey this week. I just had my hair cut again and realized, I cut off most of the hair color on my hair, leaving my shining greys and whites or angel kisses as I like to call them...I have decided to go natural, at least until October and then I can decided from there. ( That should be when my hair is fully grown out to it's natural state. I really want to see what my hair looks like since I haven't see it since I was 16) I am going to let the sun do it's normal thing with it, which is usually some nice hi-lites and reddish tint here and there.

I am also lightening up on the makeup. Just a really scrubbed face, mascara (I'm a Texas gal..can't give that up yet...) and maybe a little concealer, and some tinted lip balm.

This is all part of my emotional cleansing this week.

I have colored my hair since jr high and just recently quit - it's been every "natural" color in the hair color rainbow, and am finding my "wet sand" color works just fine :) Still have fake blonde ends, but the upper half is nice and fresh. I was so excited about it when I started noticing the "real" me...I only wear makeup if fiance and I go to a fancy dinner, then getting dressed up is extra special :) I love seeing how different we all are:)

One thing I noticed, the last few times I have colored, my scalp has literally felt like it was burning and I don't even use anything, like a blonde, that would require lifting or bleaching. I have used the same brand, the same color or at least within a shade and for some reason, it really has been bothering me.

Chickabella- your hair is cute!!! Very chic yet simple...I like it!!!

I guess I've always been neked then!! LOL! I colored my hair once when I was a teen, I hated the way it looked so I never did that again. I have fine straight hair, so I tried a couple times to perm my hair, it just damaged the skin on my scalp. So I quit that as well. As for makeup... well, I have oily skin only on my face and it always felt yucky to me and it never stayed put where it was suppose to so.... I have been makeup free for ages!! I'm just a plain Jane. I am a comfortable plain Jane though. :)

I get mine cut by a sweet girl at the barber shop: #4 clipper on the sides, and scissor cut on top. Wash & wear for the win! You can see the haircut on this blog entry: http://farmnatters.blogspot.com/2008/07/no-niceties-necessary.html

I rarely wear makeup, but when I do, it's a fun thing.

I have to say I have never colored my hair ever. I have very fine hair and I have always been afraid that it would just damage it. So I have my natural sandy blonde with a few gray and mostly pure white strands of hair. I just feel this is the way I was born and I just live with it. Having a good haircut helps, but I say leave the natural color.

Ladies, I quit coloring a few years ago after coloring for probably 25 years. The last time I colored it turned out so bad, I said "that's it, I'm quittin' coloring my hair". I love not coloring my hair! Yes it's grey, but it's the same grey everyday. When I colored, because I wash everyday, the color changed from when I colored to the next time to color quite a bit, getting lighter and lighter. I hated the changes, and it was always obvious when I colored because my hair would be darker again.
At first my parents didn't like my going grey, they said it made THEM look older, Ha ha! Others just couldn't understand why I wanted to do that, but everyone is used to it now.
My hubby is a little color-blind and he said to him it's platinun blonde, so I go with that!
I'm actually more comfortable with myself now that when I colored. This is me, this is how someone my age looks, and that's a good thing.
Now makeup...that's a whole 'nuther thing...
Even when we are at civil war reenactments, where we are not supposed to wear any makeup, I've got my stuff on! Guess that's the next step in my journey...but not yet.

This year was my "neked" year as well. I just decided to quit coloring my hair and let me tell you it is very liberating. You find a new attitude comes with the gray. I love it!!!My kids tease me because alot of places automatically give my hubby and me the senior discount especially at sporting events at school,,,hee! hee! I must admit though,I have to wear my concealer, lipgloss, and mascara. As soon as I'm done washing my face it goes on. You are going to love not having to color every 6 weeks....trust me you will.

Frannie, your so funny. I had no idea that you changed your hair color with the seasons. I always picture you as red!

I'm not ready to show off the gray yet either. Don't know if I will ever be ready. Maybe when I'm 100! ha

ohhhhhh .. thank you Miss May Belline and Mr. Max Factor .. and all those cuzin hair colors out there!

i don't think i will ever be ready to go 'au naturale' .. i LOVE playin' in 'my mama's make-up drawer' and having funky hair colors each season.

kinda' goes along with lovin' to play 'dress up' in fun clothes for me.

grey is beautiful .. but i could only take it for a winter season .. and then would want to get all blonded up when the daffodils bloom in springtime.

No for me. I am not ready to look at all the grey. I could be solid grey. Not for me, yet. LOL I now wear less makeup, but some days ------ well, I guess it depends where I go, I use a little more of the makeup.
I do love your approach in life. Simplify! I try!!!!

Heather , that is really amazing! I'm doing the exact same thing! I'm growing out my dark auburn hair that is liberally streaked with "Angel Kisses" and eventually going to cut off all of the red. I've been colouring my hair since I was in my teens too. And I'm lightening up on my make up...it just seems right at this point.

Learning to accept the "real" you is a worthy thing and very positive. I applaud you on it.
Good luck on your journey =)
Blessings!
