surely no need to send anything sweetie .. i'm hoping these will still be 'viable' by spring. (i have used two year old seeds and had them come up!) but to be real safe .. i'll make sure you get some 2008 autumn ones too!

Frannie.....Albuquerque is more like Colorado then Arizona!!! We are

actually a mile high like Colorado and have all four seasons including the

SNOWSTORMS!!! ....however, the snow is not quite as bad as Colorado.

Will send my addy in an email now and thanks again Frannie!

oh pam .. what a cute story! dooooo take a photo of 'the lone ranger'!

i'm sooo glad we don't seem to have 'squirrels' here .. i think the 'coyotes' in the woods must keep them at bay!

i always have plenty for the birds to eat .. and plenty left over too!

is Mr. Nibbles your one and only .. or does he have lots of cousins that live nearby too?

Frannie those flowers are just beautiful! I planted several this year and our "pet" squirrel, Mr.Nibbles Alot, ate every last one of them. I was so sad because they are my favorite flower as well. And don't cha know that Mr.Nibbles must have dropped one of the seeds because one perfect flower appeared in the bean patch. She's all alone but is so pretty to look at!

jenny .. how does that sunflower house work for you? i have a darling book all about planting them.

BUT .. i got so excited when i saw one in person at a roadside garden shoppe .. took the grandes into it .. and LORDY! it was FULL OF BEEEEEZ!!!! we left quickly!

i don't have as many as in that field .. but i also don't have TONS of bees either! hmmmm .. i might just get that book out for next spring and plan a fun 'sunflower' maze or walking path .. or house!

i have some of the branching kind too .. but mostly the 'big-guns' .. i plant ZILLIONS of seeds to get just this many plants. i swear, i think i'd have hank dig up the yard just' to plant sunflowers! xo

ohhh .. audrey .. mine go into september and october .. but they start 'leanin' big time by then! i would love to cut them for bouquets .. but i BUY those .. cuz' i can't stand to cut mine! xo

Mone are blooming now too..mostly the multibranching kind with alot of small ones..the plants must be 9 feet tall though....I love it. They are all the ones that just came up in the garden volunteer from last year's fallen seeds. I never plow over a sunflower plant. The girls and I put a stake in the ground near them in the spring when they are tiny so we don't forget they are there until they are bigger. My big ones arn't up more than a foot tall yet. I planted them by seed...they are part of the kid's sunflower house..which we planted late..but they are growing and healthy looking in spite of the heat...so I hope they will bloom in a few weeks...they need to grow really fast now!!
I loved your pictures!

Hmmmm I am not sure Frannie.....I think I would plant them in the Spring. When did you plant yours in Kentucky? I might call and see what one of the plant nurseries say. Do yours last through October? I'm trying to remember when the "bird seed" ones starting coming up and how long they lasted but gotta say for the life of me...... I can't remember!!! I'll email my addy and whenver it is convenient for you to mail is fine with me.......I can plant them now or wait till Spring!

The FUN part will be, if and when they do come up, I'll post pictures so you can see "Your Friendship Flowers" all the way out here in my New Mexico Garden!!!

That sure is a beautiful site. We planted sunflowers here and there, and they are all drooping now. I believe it's from the Louisiana heat, and we need rain. Thanks for posting such beautiful pictures.

ohhhhhhhhh diana darlin' .. you keep 'em .. i remember their 'reign of terror' in our maryland home! they sure can be funny sometimes though! they will go to ALL lengths to get at food!

lordy! we even had one IN the house in the middle of the night in maryland .. i heard something and got up to investigate .. it was DARK .. and he leaped from a tall cupboard to the fireplace mantle to the kitchen doorway and into the dining room .. faster than i could even see him clearly .. i thought he was a RAT!

i started screaming at the top of my lungs:

RAT!! RAT!! RAT!!!

and hank appears in the doorway .. butt-neked .. with a fireplace poker in his hands!

HA! poor little thing .. i think we scared him more than he scared us!

Frannie-I'd be happy to send you squirrels! We had a bumper crop of babies this year and they've terrorized my bird feeders, hummingbird feeders, tomatoes, sunflowers and dug up some of my flowers.

Ooooh very pretty! I had some sunflowers come up this year from seeds that were in my one birdfeeder. They looked so pretty til the yard rats ravaged them for the seeds :(
