domestic .. we only have our two olde english sheepdogs .. Cabin and Creek .. they are such clowns and so dear.

don't have any farm animals in this chapter of our book of life .. we like to travel too much.

lots of 'locals' live in the woods though .. deer, Irarely see them come out of the woods .. we think Cabin and Creek hear them first and scare them away with their barking (thank goodness they only bark when they hear something!) coyote (i've never seen them but sometimes we hear them at night)... the usual rabbits, raccoons, occasional possum, JAKE THE SNAKE and his kith and kin usually stay hidden .. but a couple times each summer, we'll see one sunning himself in the garden, birds, bees, butterflies.

We have one cow, 3 horses, 1 donkey, 17 chickens, 4 dogs, 2 turtles, lionhead bunny and fish in my little pond. And I want some more goats!

14 cows (unless you count Elvis as 2 since he's well over 2,000 lbs now)
chickens
guineas
pigs
dogs
and a precious barn cat
And that doesn't include the 'traveling' critters -- coyotes, possum, raccoons, the snake that's taken up residence in the barn (at around 6' long and at least a million inches in diameter, I think I'm gonna let him stay there for a while, especially since I don't think our rickety ol' barn could survive a bullet hole!) the fox and the neighborhood dogs who show up in the morning for their daily treat.

We have Lizzie, our golden retriever, Hilda and Tilda (chow mix females), Gingersnap the Calico cat, and our peafowl.. Heathcliff, Damaris, and their baby, yet to be named. We miss our guinea fowl that died earlier this year and are thinking about getting some more. I'm also thinking about getting a few chickens. I had a pet hen when I was a kid and I loved her.

OOPS! That's FIVE dogs! Silly me. Guess I counted the chihuahua's as only 2-- though I guess, since none of them is over 9lbs, you could call them ONE dog! ha! ha! ha! ~~~ Tracy

(I think I got ya ALL beat on THIS one!) I was going to name them ALL, but it just took up too much room here. So, we have ---

4 dogs (1 Maremma LGD, 1 lab and 3 Chihuahua Monsters-- though Kangaroo-Jack is a Chi/Jack Russell/Corgi cross. He's small like a chi (8.09lbs) and he actually herds the sheep and goats! a miniature dog to herd miniature critters!! too cute!!) We also have 7 cats, 4 horses, 19 Babydoll sheep, (my youngest son INSISTED we name one of the lambs "George Herbert Walker Bush JUNIOR." his poor little brother STILL doesn't have a name-- guess we ran out of them after naming George! LOL). 6 Jacob sheep, 19 Nigerian Dwarf goats (NINETEEN!! It sure doesn't seem like that many) and my husbands 5 mixed breed sheep.

There's also Opal, the pot Bellied TERROR!! She's spending HER summer destroying my flower beds! (hope she doesn't discover the GARDEN!). We have mix breed bunny who lives in the house. We also have 7 ducks (runners and blue/black swedish and a solid black breed, no sure what they are yet), 2 geese (I named one of them "Big Head Fred"-- I think that speaks for itself-- they're still in the "Down" stage) and a GAZILLION chickens. some of them have names, but I'll spare you those. Although I do have one that is a Frizzle Cochin-Americauna X-- she looks like a demented feather duster!!! Her name is "Miss Frizz." And last, but not least, I have 3 teenage boys and a husband. Do they count? (LOL)

To all those ladies who said they wanted MORE critters-- be careful what you wish for. You just might GET IT!!! (along with all the WORK and the MOUNTAINS of POOP!) All these lovely critters and I still want my DEXTERS!!! AND a Jersey milk cow like Miss Mona!!! Happy day ladies! Hugs~~ Tracy

Willowtreecreek, A panther? Where do you live?

Diane, My outdoor dog is 1/2 beagle and 1/2 Blue Tic Hound. Your dog is 1/2 Beagle and 1/2 Choc Lab, have you ever wondered how these beagles and the larger dogs "got together". LOL. My dog has the beagle head, it's just bigger, but the body is true Blue Tic Hound. She has the sweetest eyes.

Shi-anne, My husband wants a buffalo too. If we could afford it, I would love to raise Alpacas.

We have our 8 year old Pomeranian-Hanna, she has been with us since she was a tiny little puppy. She is spoiled rotten and bosses us around. One year ago we went to the Humane Society and brought home our outdoor dog-Lucky, she is 1/2 Beagle and 1/2 Blue Tic Hound, she loves Cats-actually I think she loves everything and anyone! Our cat Tabitha and Lucky slept curled up together, last winter in our enclosed porch. We have 4 Roosters, 16 chickens, and one new baby chick. Our cat had three kittens, in June. In the pasture is two beauties, our Quarter horses, Willaby and Lexy (we didn't name them.) If I had my way I would also have mini donkeys. My husband calls our place, Barb's Zoo.

I have 3 indoor kitties that are near and dear to my heart. I also feed several ferral cats outside. There are 3 kittens that have moved in under one of my sheds and another set of 4 kittens that live at the neighbors but come over for food as well. Besides them I also have a few squirrels that come around for their share of vittals. Next spring I plan on getting some chickens. It shouldn't be a problem even though I am in city limits. I have neighbors on both sides of me that have a small flock, complete with roosters, that crow "Good morning" to me every day!! I would love to have more: goats, sheep, dogs, and even a buffalo, but I will have to have more property for that. Drats!! I could have a few rabbits but I need to fix up a place that will give them better shade in the afternoon. Hmmm, maybe next year or the next...

We have five dogs...Sam a black lab, Ebbie, a lab mix,(they are outside dogs) Weiner, a "hotdog dog", Biggs, a poodle mix from the pound and Sadie a VERY mixed breed I raised on a bottle from two days old. They have no idea they are actually dogs. We also have four cats and an aquarium full of fish. I have always wanted chickens but my husband doesn't agree. Maybe someday!!! I've been looking at getting a rabbit for my little boy but haven't made the move yet. I KNOW who will be taking care of it. We do love our animals!!!! We always refer to them as our "kids".

Let's see, we have 2 weiner doggies Molly 11 next month and Timmy a long hair dapple 7. Plus 6 beautiful big goldfish in pretty colors. Outside there is Sam the cat who will not let anyone near him, but boy does he like us to feed him! He lives in the big pole barn. The wild ones we have are of course many deer, a lot of fawns this year, they are so cute. Turkeys and their many babies, squirrels snd chippies. Bunnies galore, nasty oppossums, I don't like them. Skunks, pheasents, raccoons, woodchucks, coyotes, don't care much for them either. Loads of different birds. We feed them.Love the hummers. Owls and every kind of hawk. Oh and my fish in the ponds and my frogs who let me pet them.I have probably forgotten somone but you get the idea !!

Our menagerie consists of a springer spaniel, 10 meat birds, 12 layers, one rabbit and 4 sheep. We also have a great array of birds that live in our yard. Our most recent resident is a red tail hawk. Perfect for keeping the mouse poopulation down. There's also an owl that likes the trees across the street - he comes to visit occasionally too.

We have a Black Min. Schanuzer named "Keely", she will soon be 7 and a min weiner dog, named "Weiner" she is 4 1/2 (she was my Dad's dog and when he passed away she came to live with us in fact she has been with us 19 mos now). Both of our girls are wonderful and we love them so much. Their sister (our daughter) tells them that we spoil them much more than we did her. ha. ha.
She was our only child...what do you all think? ha
I would LOVE to have a couple of goats or sheep and some chickens. We live in the edge of town but we have a barn and a little over an acre fenced in. I keep tellin my husband that is to much land to waste. ha. The guy that we bought it from had a horse there...so see we would have enough room. He is not into farm anything.:(...My heart longs for it.

We have 2 dogs, an 8 yr old french brittany who thinks she's ahead of me in the pecking order of the household, and a 4 yr old lab/border collie mix who is really a sweetheart, and Sam, the 8 yr old yellow tabby cat. I can't imagine a home without pets! Also for years we had baby animals for periods of time as my husband was a wildlife conservation officer. That was always fun too!

We have a dog, cat, turtle & a bluegill living indoors. My girls caught the bluegill last year - I do believe he will be going back to live in the creek this summer. 1 year is long enough to house a bluegill.

Outside we have the occasional raccoon & opossum - then there's a coyote that has been using my side yard as cut through. Once in a great while we'll have a deer that will run through town and really stir things up.

We did have that cougar sighting not to far from here earlier this year.

We raised a bobcat on a bottle once. She was so cute. At least until she got big. Then one day she climbed a tree and refuse to come down, asserting her independence. She came around ever few days for two or three years, but haven't seen her in a while.

The vet that we got the bobcat from, offered us a bear. He was 6 months old and we could have the cage and all for $300. I guess that is a good price, having never bought a bear before; but hubby said, NO WAY! drat!

Now I want an alpaca and a buffalo to add to the list I already posted. Hubby at least agrees with the buffalo. Same vet raises buffalo, so we shall see.

We have 4 dogs (Sterling the LGD, Tess the working border collie, Daisy the Boston Terrier and Bart the old man mutt), 4 horses (Tommy, TC, Holly and Charlie), 2 chickens (no names, very old), 45 ewes and 75 lambs (soon to leave to market) and 4 rams (2 leaving soon to their own harem.)

I agree Frannie, animals keep you glued to the homefront. Probably will rethink this when we get ready to retire and travel, hopefully, more.

Wild critters abound, coyotes, frogs, ducks, geese, hawks, eagles, vultures, tons of birds and badgers, raccoons, SKUNKS...tons of them!
