went to the endocrinologist (diabetes doc) last week .. she peeked at my po' little piggie toe and said it is healing fine and that i have great circulation in my feet!) happy about that .. i surely didn't want to be hoppin' around on stumps any time soon! (or EVER!)

she also did a sonogram on my thyroid . .i have a few 'bump-ettes' .. she said she isn't worried about them .. but THEN .. they ARE in MY neck and not hers! but she is a darling doctor .. i had such a great time talking with her about her dreams and family. she told me being a doctor is tough for her because she worries so over her patients .. but is thankful that she doesn't get 'critical' patients like many doctors do.)

anyhoo .. she says since i'm a 'worrier' about 'health issues' .. she's gonna' do a little biopsy on it .. sometime in september. (i've had these for ages!)

THEN .. i had to have blood drawn for my usually three-month blood test checkups (cuz' of the diabetes and all the pills i take for it and high cholesterol and thyroid .. ya-da-ya-da.

WELL .. yesterday, when a letter came from her office .. i've NEVER seen that happen beore .. i usually have those tests done BEFORE my appointment and she discusses the results with me AT my appointment. but since i won't see her again until september .. i guess they just send a 'report'.

i opened it .. and she had written GREAT REPOT! on it ..

my cholesterol is 137 (shoudl be less than 200)
triglycerides are 117 .. should be less than 150
HDL 58 .. should be greater than 45 (i think i'd like to get that one alittle higher though .. although she didn't say i have to)
LDL was 56 .. should be less than 100 .. sooo i think that one's pretty good.

AND OH HAPPY DAY!! MY GLUCOSE AND DIABETES RELATED TEST SCORE .. is 6.8% (she hand-wore EXCELLENT! it should be less thatn 7.0 and for a type one diabetic .. to have it BELOW 7.0 is GOOD!

and a bigger smile yet came when i got to the line: URINE MICROALBUMIN: "NO evidence of Diabetic Kidney Disease!

AND .. here's another happy dance: THROID TESTS: doc wrote: "ARE PERFECT!"

we dance for joy when we get 'good news' from our docs!

lordy! imagine if i exercised and ate better! i'd be 'superwoman'!

jus' wanted to share my happy news! xo

I'm so glad to hear that you got such good news!! Both of my parents are diabetic and my doctor is watching me very closely in hopes that I will not follow suit. It is a tricky disease but you're right, it can be controlled. Now if I could just get that thyroid working again. ;)

Frannie

I'm so glad that you got such good news on your medical reports! We have a 22 yr old niece who has type I diabetes and has to wear an insulin pump. I just wish she'd take better care of herself.

hey gurlz .. if you have loved ones with type one diabetes .. tell them to ask their doctors about them (and i HIGHLY recommend a diabetic specialist (endocrinologist) if they do have 'the sugar'. my doc said there is nothing better she has ever prescribed for us than THE PUMP! you don't have to take a 'shot' in your stomach every time you eat .. but you do .. jus' program the amount of carbs and use your doctor's 'ratio' to cover it. this is NOT to say that i don't have my share of HIGHS and LOWS .. but it is always MY fault. either i don't take enough .. seldom take too much! .. or very occasionally, i forget until i am half-way through my meal! .. and there are other things that can make your sugars go haywire even if you ARE paying attention: illness, stress, lack of sleep, high temp, you sneeze, you 'toot' .. ohhhhhhh .. this is a tricky little disease. but it is somewhat controllable .. jus' be sure to keep in touch with a good doc who watches over you!

thanks for all your sweet words! xo

Frannie, I am so happy to hear everything is going so well!! All your tests were ecellant. Your triglycerides and "good" cholesterol numbers are awesome. You must be doing something very right. I was wondering how your insulin pump was working. I guess I got my answer. There is just no better feeling than walking out of the Dr.'s office after getting a great report like that is there?

Congrats on the good report, Frannie. You must be doing a great job of following the doctor's orders to have such great reports and be controlling your blood sugars well. Yee-haw.

Oh Frannie you are such a hoot and I am so happy for you! And I too have thyroid and immune system diseases..yada yada....and I too got the hemi's when I had the kids! The nurse turned me over to put "proctofoam" on them (great stuff that proctofoam) and she said they looked like rosettes on a birthday cake! LOL! but they don't ever bother me anymore unless I get a case of the extreme either way if you know what I mean! I have ra and Graves disease....but I am doing very well now but there was a few years when I didn't think I was going to make it....but it takes a lot to keep a "farmgirl" down for long! You go girlfriend...I love good news!

thanks you sweetie pies! marly .. i wouldn't worry about them .. i was told last year when they were found in a routine check-up .. that even IF they were the "C" word .. not to worry .. they jus' cut it out and it is over (NOW .. i do know there is one DREADED kind that you don't wanna' get .. but in my endocrinolgist's TWENTY year practice .. she said she has only seen that ONCE! (sure don't wanna' be number two though!) oh .. and i've had two doctors tell me that 'thyroid cancer' is the one that all doctor's would choose to have IF they had to have it somewhere!

i asked her why i had them .. she said it can go along with the auto-immune disease .. that also attacks a diabetic's pancreas so they don't make 'sugar'! i've read up on it a 'little' and it is RARELY anything bad! (i do suggest you keep them checked though .. cuz' 'the sooner the better' with all ailments!

get those yearly check-ups gurlfrenz! xo

ha! i'm goin' to the 'hiney doctor' tomorrow! (i did get 'roto-rooterized' and he didn't find anything .. BUTT ... and yesssssss .. I KNOWWWWWWW .. this is TOOOO MUCH INFORMATION .. but i do have 'bumps' there too (nuthin' preparation H shouldn't be able to take care of though!)

ha! did ya'll get those when you were 'prego'? i remember my doc checkin' my netherlands out after wednesday was born .. he went: EWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!! looks like a birthday party .. and the kids forgot to take home their balloons!

lordy! i'm sure glad this is a 'frenz' place where we can talk jus' like we were sittin' around the table! and OH MY YES .. that very conversation has indeed come up over liver and onions and mashed potatoes when i'm with the GURLZ!!
