You know, my fil loves it when I buy him fishing magazines.. Men usually don't buy themselves a magazine. He loves to fish so I get him every fishing mag I can find, throw in a package of picnic sausage, a good chocolate bar and he is in heaven.. What are your fil's hobbys? they have magazines for everything.

Blessings, Debra

Hmm....with the beekeeping there are a couple of Bee girls here on the board. A book may be handy on beekeeping or a fun bee book. You might could ask the MIL if there is a particular "wish list" for his beekeeping stuff, perhaps a new smoker or hat with the netting. Or if he makes candles or other products, purchasing a few supplies. I don't know if there is a recipe book out there with honey, etc or what to do with beeswax, honey, etc.

Thanks gals! He is into beekeeping, maybe I can find something for that. I didn't think of his hobbies.

I always gave my father-in-law a signed book, something he was interested in reading. So, whenever I would hear someone signing books and selling them at the bookstore, I'd be there. Of course, when he died I got all the books back.

Does he have any hobbies? My father in law is a photographer outside of work, shooting weddings (he did ours, too) and is constantly taking photos. We usually get him film--no joke. We buy him all different types for his 35 mm and he's happy as a clam.

For other "men" that are hard to buy for (my boss, my law associate) I usually do gift cards to bookstores or restaurants (Chipotle) that they can get lunch on, or when they're travelling for depositions, and get in and get out.

What kind of occupation is he in? Does he have a favorite restaurant? We usually do gift cards at Cracker Barrel because you just can't go wrong with a good ole plate of pancakes and biscuits there!
