My Baby Brite (Rainbow Brite's baby sister)... I still have her. I even got to BE her in a church play! :D

Yay!! Annika and Amie, more horse riders! That very well be the name for them, Amie, Hobby Horses. I like that you were so imaginative that your horse was a roan :) Adorable! Mine was black with a white blaze and I named it "Mr. Hurry" after an old retired racehorse that lived on the farm we lived on. My niece, Ava, has one at Nana Kay's house, that belonged to Justin--she calls it "Black Beauty" :)
You need to get yourself on a horse now, as a "big" girl, Amie--guaranteed to cure your ills!!!

Hey, Jonni! I had a couple of those horses on springs too! We called them hobby horses, but I don't know if they had a technical name (we always got them from garage sales). We had two during the years just before I got too big for them (maybe 9-10). My favorite of the two had probably been brown originally, but the paint had chipped away so that it was mostly white with brown flecks. I decided to think of it as a roan. That one was named Cinnamon, and the other (which was a pale cream color) was named Buttermilk. You're lucky you got to move on to real horses. I was very sad when I outgrew our toy ones. |

Well, it wasn't really considered a toy, but it was to me. You know those big wooden spools that the power company has? Well my uncle brought one home for me and I used to ride that thing all over the property. I loved that thing. Obviously, I don't have it anymore, but boy I had some great rides on it!

The horses that were on the springs and platform? Daddy had to anchor it down to the floor because I tried to ride it like a Jockey would. I love that horse, and he had to repair the springs sooo much!!!

I had a Breyer horse named Misty. I really played hard with her and all her ankles were taped (to hold her little feet on!!) I don't have her any more..I guess my mom gave her a proper burial right??? My friends and I would play for hours. None of us had more than one which was nice.

I had a large collection of Breyer Horses. I still have most of them; sadly many of my favorites are missing an ear or a leg from years of hard play.
I also had two dolls that stand out: Mother Doll, a large plastic baby doll who originally belonged to my aunt in the 50s; and Charlotte, the rag doll my mother made for my Christmas present when I was four and wanted to have a doll just like the one in the Little House on the Prairie books. Both these dolls are currently living on top of my huge bookcase of childhood books. |
