Posted - Jul 24 2008 : 06:59:37 AM The night of my father's unexpected death... having to call the funeral home and spearheading the arrangements in the days following. My mom was understandably too upset to take care of those things, but I was young and could barely speak to folks without turning into a crying, blubbering mess.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Farmgirl Sister #242 http://vintage-moxie.blogspot.com |

Posted - Jul 24 2008 : 06:50:26 AM Mine was leaving to join the military with a small bag of my entire "life" and going truly out on my own for the first time. Part of it was for the adventure and part of it was standing up to my family. It all turned out for the best...so..happy dance!!!

Posted - Jul 24 2008 : 06:08:35 AM I think mine combines the hardest and the most rewarding- giving birth to my son, who is disabled, but acts like he is anything but. John is deaf, and has cerebral palsy (left-side involved) and a siezure condition. Those are the disabling things about him, but his abling things are his winning personality, his willingness to work hard and to adapt himself to whatever job is required of him, his lack of fear, his refusal to see himself as different from anyone else, his smile, his ability to make friends wherever he goes... the list goes on. he is an absolute inspiration to us each and every day. So, while it could have been a wallow-in-self-pity situation, we never could because of John himself.

Posted - Jul 23 2008 : 10:56:41 PM I am an emt. Tonight I pulled two kids from a car. the car flipped twice, they were doing about 70 on a winding road. they were drunk. Now I can say that Praise God they are both ok. but I can tell you too that it doesnt always end that way. I came home and hugged my kids. Please hug your kids. Tell your teens to be smart. I am going to bed now before I get called out again. HUGS TO ALL |
