Next on our remodel list is our upstairs bathroom - then the bedrooms. We've already put on an addition, expanded the kitchen (remodeled too), did the downstairs bathroom, redid the living room and fixed up the bathroom. I live in a perpetual state of construction. This is what happens when you marry a carpenter and buy a fixer upper.

The house we are moving too.. If I had money to do anything it would be to landscape the house.. put in grass, roses, raised bed gardens, a fort for the boys.. a small outpost.. yep after living in a sandpit for a year I look forward to having a piece of land I can do stuff too!

Blessings, Debra

I would bump out our gathering room to expand the kitchen. I would love a bigger kitchen that the whole family could mill around in. Then I would add a screened porch to the gathering room. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with our house. I just need to finish the pine floors and paint!!

My leaky roof first, then I would try to finish up all the projects that have been started, then left by the wayside to spend time outside!

I'd put a foundation under the house. That alone would make all the other repairs/remodels much easier.

For me? OUT goes the Kitchen wall! I want a HUGE kitchen where friends and family can hang out, bake cookies or can, and no ones butt bumps into anyone elses!

Our house is old... VERY old, and whoever "designed" it was DEFINITELY NOT an architect!! It needs some SERIOUS help! Actually, I'd have the whole thing redone-- starting at the BACK DOOR and all the way through the house! I'd add about five feet to the living room so it's more square than rectanglular (a NIGHTMARE to arrange furniture in!), add a fireplace and built in book cases. I'd have the upstairs bedroom fitted with LOTS of closet space (right now it's actually just one big room with no WALLS! Hubby knocked them out when he put on the new roof FOUR years ago to add more electical outlets and just LEFT IT that way!). I'd also have more windows and a bathroom added. I'd also like a mud room at the back of the house so my big piggies wouldn't track their dirt (and dirty clothes!) all over the house! ~~sigh~~

The kitchen and the dining room. One can tell that a man designed these. I would move the sink and stove to the other side so that you can't see them from the front door. And then move the door to the dining room to the other side where the sink is now and then take out some walls to open up the dining room and put in a large window.

after that... .I would add a garage. Dh really needs a garage.

I would remodel the bathroom, and put new windows/siding/roof outside.

I'm with Heather, a pool, with a swim gym thing. I have no babysitter to get to water aerobics in town, which I love.

I'd skip the remodeling, sell this house and use the remodeling money to move to the country :)

speaking of remodelling..any of you gals wanna come help me paint?
I'll be painting hall way doors today..then baseboards and trim work in hallway tomorrow..then after that we have to paint kitchen and living room ceiling, then kitchen cabinets and possibly put new hardware on the cabinets in there..then paint living room panelling.
Then back in here to the office to paint office ceiling and walls and baseboards.
Anyone wanna help?
hee hee..I'd certainly put you to work.but..we'd laugh and have a good ole' time. and enjoy cool southern iced tea along the way.

since I'm in the process of doing a little remodeling right now anyhow and will be selling..well..I think I'd pocket the money and use it for a new place..hee hee.
I'd save the moolah towards putting in solar panels on a new place...and buying paint for a new home also...as well as plants for landscaping...I'd make the moolah stretch just as far as I could stretch it..and the solar panels/batteries would give me the potential to actually profit from my investment a bit more.
yep..that's what I'd do.
---------------
actually we are seriously thinking about putting solar on the new place when we get it.
especially since we have had 2 power outages in the middle of the day within a few days of each other..miserable..miserable...one lasted from about noon to 2:30 one day..then the day before yesterday we had one that went from noon until nearly 5 p.m. and it has been hotter than you know what here....so solar panels to run things would have been a great idea.
Generators are o.k. but typically you can only run a couple of things off of a generator ...I think I kind of like the idea of the power company having to pay me for the surplus. :0)hee hee..oh don't I sound ornery?? LOL

After I did the responsible thing of replacing the roofing and gutters; I would definitly remodel the kitchen and upstairs bathroom.

I would remodel our kitchen. The rest of the house is in the process and almost finished...we decided to do the rest of the house first with our money, instead of just doing the kitchen. Next project is digging out the pool...I figure that my kids will remember fun summers with mom and dad in the pool before they will remember that mom and dad sank money into a new kitchen. All in time!

That is an easy answer! I would tear down this 4200 sq ft house and put up a 1000 sq ft house. It would cost more to remodel this place than build a new one! If I had to only remodel though it would be the kitchen, if I am not outside then that is where I am and it really needs some help.

Practically speaking, I know that I would have to cut down the huge tree overhanging the house, which is starting to die. And then I would have to get the house painted and replace the gutters.

But if we're talking dreams, I would turn our attic into a soundproof recording studio!
