After my mowing escapade, I found I had a few more..okay, a lot more ant bites than I thought I did.LOL...those ants are just spiteful! Any ideas for some relief from the itiches? So far, Ive tried hydrocordisone (sp?), and calamine lotion. No luck with those.

Have you tried borax to kill off the ants? Just pour it on top of the obvious ant hills. The Ants will carry it into their lair in an effort to clear their home. It kills the ants and the survivors won't have anything to do with the area that was boraxed.

Boy am I feeling YOUR pain!
We have a barn that is infested with fire ants!
They are even in the light pannel on the wall!
I got bitten between the soft part of my fingers... very tender!
Might could try the baking soda paste it works for bee stings |

oh yes...i not only stepped in an anthill, I STOOD on it for a bit. My hair dye seeped in and made me a little slower on the draw that day.
a friend suggested an oatmeal bath and that seems to help a ton. I use the aveeno anti itch stuff. love it passionately. thank you all for your suggestions.

ION addition to the ants, you may have redbug bites if they continue to keep appearing. Red ants usually appear right away. Did you step in an anthill?

I'm allergic to cortisone and anything that it has. Have you tried Aveeno anti-itch? They have the bath stuff and some scrub stuff. Benedryl will sometimes help. If all else fails, try to get in with the dermatologist. They gave me samples of this spray stuff that has helped with buggy bites. My mind is stuck on what it is called.

It's been a little while since I had to deal with these, but I think meat tenderizer does the trick. Try it--can't hurt at this point, right? Hope you feel better soon--those things are awful!

My 4.5 year old is allergic to the bites.. Oh my. He had gotten bit twice on the leg and had 2 huge swollen spots.. huge. It took 2 days of benedryl to get them to go away. then he was out there in his unders and buried himself in the sand.. yep- his little you know what was bit and swelled up like you wouldn't believe. Thank God I had benedryl on hand..

Lol..that sounds like something I'd do..I'll try anything. THese things keep popping up more and more as time goes by. One goes away and two more come around...ugh!

I don't know if it works with ant bites but it does for mosquito bites...take clear fingernail polish and dab on the bites then let dry. Seems once the air is cut off from them they don't seem to itch anymore.
