Posted - Jul 15 2008 : 09:53:19 AM I know, I know. It's big and gray and boring. But it stores the tractor and the lawn mower and all the tractor accessories. And I promised my dh I'd paint the thing this year. Actually, I promised him the same thing last year, but he is seeing me paint the camper(finished second coating the thin spots on my primer coat last Friday - getting paint this week) and I'm afraid I've run out of excuses. Probably next month. Anybody have any ideas about color for this object? The body of the camper is either going to be chiffon yellow or honey yellow, with the bee bodies(I just like saying that...bee bodies...)being(beeing....)the remaining color. I'm painting the farm logo on the camper. Maybe if I letter the name of the farm on this thing, we can take it off our taxes???LOL! It's real visible from the road.

Posted - Jul 16 2008 : 07:27:38 AM That's a cool idea! And what a challenge that would be....don't know if I'm up to that this year. But maybe next year, when I paint the trailer, I could paint daylilies on the skirting, behind where I actually have them planted. That way, something would always be in bloom! LOL!

Posted - Jul 16 2008 : 07:08:12 AM (hehehe) I'd paint it to look like the yard..blue sky's..green trees..a fence..flowers at the bottom..maybe even some tall sunflowers. So when people passed, they'd think it was the real thing!

Posted - Jul 16 2008 : 05:10:29 AM Okay, everybody. Thanks! Honey color it is. And hopefully, some bees and flowers.....hmmm...still gotta finish the camper. It's in the 90's the rest of the week, so paint won't set. Darn. Me and the wasps and the eight foot ladder were having such FUN! :D

Posted - Jul 15 2008 : 4:18:59 PM LILLY DALE FARM. Then paint lilies and bees all over it. Yep, listen to me, I can't even make nice stick people. Anyway, that is yet another fun thing you have there at the farm. I think you better gear yourself up for the painting, can't see how you get out of it this time, your DH at this point sees your handy ways with the paint brush. NANCY JO

Posted - Jul 15 2008 : 3:34:45 PM Janice, Yep,a farm logo and honey color would be perfect. You could have bees flying into some of the daylilies. Best of both worlds.

Posted - Jul 15 2008 : 3:30:00 PM I too think painting your farm name on it would look nice. maybe something like a "Welcome To.. BeeHaven Acres" or whatever the farm is named.Have fun. I have to paint too..but my chores are indoors. Painting hallways and door frames and trim.:0)

Posted - Jul 15 2008 : 3:29:08 PM Well...that's a good recycling idea...reusing an old storage container for your tractor. I would paint it green, or an unconspicuous (sp?) color to blend in with the background. If you want to advertise, then go with a wilder color. :)

Posted - Jul 15 2008 : 2:00:02 PM The doors are on the other end, Amie. They are really hard for me to open. We bought it from a company that sells them when trucking companies get rid of them. Trucking companies only use them for a certain number of years and them have to 'retire' them. They were stacked one on top of another.

Posted - Jul 15 2008 : 10:36:42 AM Probably a honey color. I think a bright yellow would be a little too wild for something that big and visible. LOL!
Ann - You can see pics of the outside of our old camper in 'Over the Fence' on page 11. I think it's going to be too hot here(mid 90's) to paint this week, darn it!), so I'm going to just buy the paint and work on the logo and get ready for a cooler day.
